MagmaThis is probably the cleanest targetid I've seen. I added a couple borders to it because I thought it made it look sharper. In case you or anyone else likes it.

BuschmasterACRYep, and it's located in the rear of the plane. It's not indestructible though, or it could be somewhere where there is no satellite connection. I'm going to have to go with the 9/11 pennsylvania civilian counter-jack theory, seems the most plausible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_Data_Recorder
It's not indestructible, but it's pretty damn close. I'd be willing to bet that thing is still together and it should hold the key to what happened.
I'm guessing a mechanical failure occurred that involved the communications to fail, and they probably would've hit the water a few minutes after.
