#25 I have a server for you! in TF2 General Discussion

Another shameless selfbump; I have also been requested to ban the gunslinger. I decided to let you guys decide if anything should be banned. So just let me know in this thread if there's anything you want out.

First we need somebody to play the server though. So get in here :)

eXtineOn the upside I imagine Extine is pretty amused by this.
As someone who has previously made an emotional over-reaction to having a casting opportunity taken away from me, this thread is way more depressing than amusing.

Multiplay went with VTv? So what? It's a professional eXchange and you just gotta move forward.

It's like if you get broken up with, you're not going to win anything by lighting your car on fire to show your eX how much you love her.

The calls for TF.tv to still cast it are a little worrisome to me because of the combative tone. Collaboration truly is the path forward because we are a small enough community that if you try and crush everyone else, you will, and then there'll be no one left.

Find a way to work together instead of competing head to head with VTv on this. I'd love to see Sal and Lange get to attend i49. TF.tv needs VTv. and VTv needs TF.tv.

What if TF.tv went in a support role? During the group and opening brackets, there is no way VTv can cover every single match. VTv hypes the TF.tv stream and vice versa, VTv gets first pick of matches cuz of stage presence for local fans, and both streams are up until there is only one game playing at a time. Until the grand finals, the rest of those games get casted by 1 caster from each organization. Grand Finals casted by Arx + Beta but map break analysis team is half-stocked with TF.tv guys.

Sounds great to me. Hopefully the egos can deflate and get out of the way and the community can move forward together.

I'm eXcited for i49 and I think everyone should still be regardless of who's casting. We are sending another team O_o holy fuck amazing.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I was wondering what keeps tf.tv from streaming anyway, it's not like there is a streaming embargo for non-Vtv people right.

#24 I have a server for you! in TF2 General Discussion

By the way, if any of you knows shit about game servers:
There was this issue where the server would crash and restart on every map change.
I found out what was causing the issue. Apparently it only happens when I have replays enabled. Wtf. Any idea what is going on?
Server is working fine now though.

As an effort to keep this idea alive, I made a thread over at tf2maps:

What about playing tf2, talking to people, drinking beer and having loads of fun?

Holyshitwtfisgoingoninhere.
Are you telling me half of the tf.tv crew is not going to lan because.... wait, why even? Because you do not get money form multiplay? I thought most of the costly preps have been done already? Why don't you just all go there anyway? If I was going, I would just take my EOS, a decent mic, a labtop and have a mobile streaming platform and dun. That should be enough to interview drunk tf2 players sitting on stairs. I can see people being pissed off about this whole "who gets the official production" garbage, but how could that be a reason not to go to the event at all?

#19 120hz and why I should get it in Hardware

One more addition @lightboost on ATI: It IS actually possible to get it on AMD/ATI cards by hotplugging your DVI from an nvidia card to your AMD card. So you will need a second PC with an nvidia card (labtop?), activate LB and hotplug your DVI over to your PC. Lightboost will stay on as long as you don't manually plug out your monitor's power. System restarts will not affect it. So if you really really want it, that's how you do it.

Btw, people are on it:

It is definately possible to get lightboost working with any good enough card and according monitor. We just have to figure out the commands.

Lightboost. This makes me angry. Why the fuck does this not work with my AMD card. Grmpfdsghblbldf
They better get this hack to work with AMD.

Update:

I have fixed the issue where the server would restart on every map change. I hope it will continue working now, it is on stock Sourcemod with regular nominations and rockthevote plugins. I also fixed the random spread. Here I am on a custom map, the redirect server is working fine so you guys should be able to download all the maps.

We had a few people on today already and it was fun. Keep it up and let's populate this!

As for the "it doesn't make you a better player": It does, in some way. If you play scout a lot and there have always been these shots that you didn't seem to be able to hit or that other scout in MGE that you couldn't hit because everything was too fast and you didn't really see where you were shooting: That is going to be gone. I played a lot of MGE today and I did a lot better than before. Whenever I missed, I could really see why I missed and that I missed because I legitemately did not shoot where the opponent was.
Bottom line: 120hz will let you improve significantly better if you play scout and/or any class where you feel that you cannot pinpoint your misses during fast combat.

I will probably not help you a lot if you are a main heavy.
(In that case, wtf are you doing?)

#6 i49 Seat Picking in TF2 General Discussion
huhythe301stspartanI was planning to maybe come to i49... But do all the colors mean that everything is full already?
No. Go to Hall 3, right side (brown edged cubes are the seats for TF2). If you see an empty one, pick it asap. If you are playing with a team, it might be harder.

I didn't really plan on coming with a team (I don't have one ;_; pick up spartan pls) and I haven't even looked into booking or anything. Didn't think it would be sold out so quickly. How much time do you think would one have to snatch a seat from now? Also what Saladmancer said, any way to find out who sits where?

#43 GXL TF2 LAN topics in LAN Discussion

Will there be a stream or anything of the event? I'm not murrican so I don't get to play at your guys' LANs sadly but I think it would be cool to watch it from here.

@OP Even though my opinion probably doesn't mean a lot here since I'm not going, I would have no problem with 20$. As for maps, I would love seeing some comp yukon again, but I guess the teams should decide on that :)
