Yeah drivers are all up to date. Idk aber the adapters, I don't really care, they are like 5-10€ for one except the MDP->dual link DVI one which I don't need. I'm just trying to figure out how many and which ones I would need for a 5 monitor setup and then I'll just get them all for cheap from amazon.

I don't have any MDP-adapters right now. I can use eyefinity with monitors hooked up to any output I want though. The problem seems to be that I can never have the two DVI and the HDMI on at the same time. Right now I have 3 monitors attached, 2 DVI and 1 HDMI. The second DVI one stays black and I have no way of activating it. I can switch the cables and have 2 active DVI ones and the HDMI one inactive. But I can't get all 3 to work at the same time, with or without eyefinity.
I'm trusting the manufacturer here when they say 5.
I know that I could get 3 monitors running right now using MDP (I just don't have the adapters right now), even 4 should be no problem. Just 5.
The question is rather simple: You see 5 outputs in the image.
The goal is to hook up 5 monitors, while right now I am only able to use 2 out of 3 of the non-MDP outputs. What am I doing wrong?
Ellie_GouldingYou'll have to use a miniDisplay port to DVI or HDMI converter. You can only use up to 2 DVI/HDMI at once (1 of each, or 2 of one). Your best bet would be 2 MD to DVI converters, and then just use the two DVI you already have. That's what I can think of.
Or, if you can find a Display port to 2x DVI/HDMI, you can have all 5.
Yes but that only gets me up to 4 in total. And the card manufacturer says explicitly that the card supports 5. That is what is confusing me.
pine_beetleThe standard eyefinity dual link dvi d adaptor does not support 120+ hz. You need the usb powered adapter eyefinity to dual link dvi d to enable the higher refresh rates.
That is not the problem. The one 120hz that I am gonna get I can comfortably plug in directly via dual-link dvi or with a mini displayport->displayport adapter if needed since the asus monitor supports displayport. No need for a 100€ apple adapter.
EDIT: Oops I just realized I wrote 120 in the OP but meant 60. The ones that I have lying around right now are all 60. Sorry.
The backstory: Ok, so I decided it was time to upgrade my graphics setup to stupid proportions, so I got myself an HD7990 and now I can play tf2 with chris' highframes at consistent 25 fps.
The next step is to plaster my walls with monitors, so I bought the new asus 120hz one which should arrive some day next week. Right now I have several monitors here already so I thought I might try and check out if I can get 3 running already.
The problem: Only 2 out of 3 would ever run.
From what I read, it has to do with the cables I use. Apparently I HAVE to use one of the mini displayports to ever get more than 2 monitors running. HOWEVER I know that the card is capable of running at least 5 monitors at once (idk shit about daisy chaining) which would require all of the outputs of the card to be used. To make matters even more confusing, one of those outputs is a single-link DVI, so once my 120hz monitor arrives I will have to consider that I cannot use that output for it.
The setup: 3 monitors, all 60hz. Each has DVI and HDMI inputs. The card has 1 Dual link DVI, 1 single link DVI, 1 HDMI 1.4 and 2 mini displayport outputs.
tl;dr Someone explain me how I would theoretically be able to hook up 5 monitors to those outputs, at least one of them being 120hz and what kind of/how many adapters I would need. Is there any way to have 3 monitors running without using a mini displayport period? If so, how?
Whoever is able to solve this conundrum will get a cookie.

2$ well spent :)

I came up with the name shortly after 300 came out without even having watched it.
Ever since people associate me with the hunchback guy from the movie. Own fault I guess.
Without breaking FEDERAL LAW though
duderTHE BROKE A FUCKING FEDERAL LAW.

duderShwanI have been told the following:
They narrowed down the incident to an individual and will be taking care of him.
they are upping the next prize pool.
donating the money to charity and 100% matching it.
reaching out to players with broken hardware because of the mining.
If all these things are true I think esea has sufficiently made up for their mistakes;
Uh... they broke FEDERAL LAW. That's a pretty big fucking *mistake.* Hey I killed this guy, but I'm really sorry about it and I've donated some money a bought a couple video cards so whammy... it was just a *mistake.* No. It doesn't fucking work that way.
It's a shame people seem to have 5 second attention spans these days. Exactly what Torbull wanted to happen, is happening... pacify the few actually pissed off people, throw more money into the pot (they could easily afford 10x that every season, but that's another discussion) which ultimately affects a TINY percentage of affected players, and move on. In a week we'll all move on to some other witch hunt (paging the next HL player caught cheating) and Torbull and the other ESEA owners will sit back and laugh and hatch their next get rich quick scheme.
Skyride said it up above - ESEA is a necessary evil, and no one is willing to step up to challenge them. They hold the monopoly for competitive TF2 in NA and they know it. They're literally the Comcast of TF2... they hold all the cards and will do whatever they want with them and as a community we've proven time and time again we'll just bend over and take it.
So instead of demanding change, innovation, competition... we'll just keep throwing more and more money into ESEA and they'll keep rolling along with the status quo because there's absolutely no reason to change. It's a god damn shame.

Yes. Using people's computers to mine bitcoin while playing video games is comparable to murder. Because RAAAWWWW
