warriordragon12chapmans threw lots of sliders and the player would just look dumb if chapman let one hang in the zone.

unless its a 3-0 count managers dont usually tell players what to do.

You can certainly play it like that and it's what Francona decided to do in this case. I happen to disagree with the style.

After the Home Run, Crisp hit a single right away. Both hits were on pitches out of the strike zone and believe me there are guys keeping track of that for both teams. Once Crisp gets the go ahead run on first, you need to focus on moving him to 2nd and scoring position. Chapman was struggling badly and it was obvious he could not hit the strike zone. Every hitter should have been taking the first strike then hit away after that.

both hits were borderline pitches

The homerun pitch was clearly a ball, by a lot.

pretty borderline to me

SpaceCadetwarriordragon12SpaceCadetwarriordragon12SpaceCadetnone of chapmans pitches are hitting the strike zone right now. i would be telling my hitters to take strikes
including the home run pitch, he just threw 6 pitches in a row for balls
7
8, he was fucking swinging for some reason
9, wtf are ppl swinging for holy fuck

yeah when a balls coming at you at 102+ mph youre trying to foul it back and stay alive, not get a base hit. not a chance they can tell if its in the zone or not

its called taking a strike

sometimes its better to control your own destiny than trust the umps

i wouldnt trust the umps, esp in game 7

I don't blame the players, I blame the coaches for not having them taking a strike when they see the other pitcher is wild at the moment
