#1 CS:GO update for 12/18/18 (12/19/18 UTC, 1.36.7.1) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[DANGER ZONE]
– Fixed an exploit resulting in players sometimes getting trapped under the world.
– Fixed security doors sometimes having $0 price tags.
– Fixed automated sentry gun lasers sometimes not disappearing.
– Minor adjustment to the angles of items that come out of crates.

[MISC]
– Movement fix for players getting stuck on each other in competitive modes near ledges.
– Holiday forecast calls for snow on the Menu UI.

Rumor has it:

- This update also contains new translations, made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You

- Size is ~60 MB

------------------------

Windows XP and Windows Vista users now have TWO WEEKS left before Valve will end its support of Steam on 1/1/19. Additionally, Valve is also ending its support of Steam on Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite on 1/1/19 as well. Any future CS:GO updates that moves the minimum Steam client version beyond the last one available for XP/Vista will render it unplayable unless you upgrade Windows. Any future CS:GO updates that moves the minimum Steam client version beyond the last one available for Lion through Yosemite will also render it unplayable unless you grab Mac OS X El Capitan or newer from the Mac App Store.

The player must have owned the game for ten years and played the game at least once. The coin will be awarded next time Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is launched.

[2019 SERVICE MEDAL]
– When you become a Global General (Rank 40), you’ll be given the opportunity to reset your Profile Rank. After January 1, 2019 you’ll be able to receive a new 2019 Service Medal, an inspectable display item that will be visible wherever your avatar is shown.

[MISC]
– Significant performance improvement for users on AMD and Intel GPUs.

Rumor has it:

- Medals and coins galore! https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/93010c22b8a34d935c80c05bfdaf1b9295324600

- Here is the 10 Year Veteran Coin, now reality after years and years of requests for one:

- Just like this year's set of medals, there are six different levels. Here's what they look like at level 2, level 3, level 4, level 5, and level 6

- Size is ~65 MB

#1 CS:GO update #2 for 12/14/18 (12/15/18 UTC) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[DANGER ZONE]
– Adjusted tablet buymenu drone delivery weapon prices.
– Ammo boxes now dispense a quarter of their contents each time they are used, and can still be shared with squadmates.
– Reduced the duration required to arm explosives on the safe, and added alert to warn the arming player when they remain within the blast radius.
– Removed the parachute from blue tool crates. They will still appear loose in the world.
– Reduced spawn point selection timer duration.
– Added armor to blue tool crates that previously only contained a helmet.
– Slightly increased the number of Shotgun, SMG, and Pistol crates in the world.

[MISC]
– Fixed a case where players would see an extra “Starting match…” message.

Rumor has it:

- What you see described above is pretty much what you're getting in GameTracking

- Size is ~10 MB
- #2? If you're wondering what happened in #1 (with size of close to 5 MB), all it did was touch the Panorama system in some fashion

------------------------

Valve will end its support of Steam on Windows XP and Windows Vista in 1 month, on 1/1/19. Any future CS:GO updates that moves the minimum Steam client version beyond the last one available for XP/Vista will render it unplayable unless you upgrade Windows.

#1 CS:GO update for 12/13/18 (12/14/18 UTC, 1.36.6.8) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

– Fixed scoreboard sometimes not populating correctly.

[ DANGER ZONE ]
– Reduced waiting for players time in warm-up.
– Improved matchmaking times for Danger Zone.
– Added a new sound cue when explosives on the safe detonate.
– Lowered volume of selected rappel destination sound and rappel helicopter.
– Fixed an incorrect parachute sound playing during warm-up.
– Several fixes for client-side behavior of Frag Grenades and Fire Bombs.

[ MAPS ]

– Fixed players getting stuck in tree in town.
– Smoothed out underwater displacements to fix players getting stuck.
– Fixed floating item spawn point near outlet.

[ MISC ]
– Updated Alpha on UMP-45 Momentum.

Rumor has it:

- Here's what the UMP-45 Momentum looks like now - a lot better with fixed alpha channels!

http://media.steampowered.com/apps/730/icons/econ/default_generated/weapon_ump45_cu_ump_arrows_light_large.83f1e692bdafa92f29ce15aebb02502c9e70f276.png

- And the old one, for comparison's sake:

http://media.steampowered.com/apps/730/icons/econ/default_generated/weapon_ump45_cu_ump_arrows_light_large.20b01890495d097b375de72054a535c15d768970.png

- Aside from the Blacksite updates, the rest of the bulk of the size is in localization file updates, made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You

- Size is ~65 MB

#1 CS:GO update #4 for late 12/7/18 (12/8/18 UTC) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ DANGER ZONE ]
– Fixed an issue in squad mode that caused the winning squad to not be able to play again from the victory screen.
– Added correct localizations for kills by Frag Grenade, Diversion Device, and Fire Bomb.
– Fixed a regression with motion blur graphics settings.
– Optimized memory usage when not playing Danger Zone.

[ COMMUNITY SERVERS ]
– Added a setting “sv_prime_accounts_only”. When enabled, only prime accounts can connect to the game server.
– Added console commands to support Danger Zone squads:
— sv_dz_team_count N : set DZ team size to N players per squad.
— sv_dz_jointeam_allowed 1: enable users to choose their own squad during warmup via dz_jointeam.
— sv_dz_autojointeam 0: disable players from automatically being assigned a squad when they join the server.
— dz_clearteams – remove players from all squads.
— dz_shuffle_teams – shuffle all players onto random squads.
— dz_jointeam N : Join squad #N (0 = none, valid squads range from 1 to 9).
— dz_jointeam N : Server admins only – assign a player to a particular squad. Doesn’t require sv_dz_jointeam_allowed.
– dz_jointeam only works during warmup. Use dz_clearteams / sv_dz_autojointeam 0 with care — all players must be assigned a valid squad when the game starts.

Rumor has it:

- Danger Zone teams are now identified through 10 colors
- The colors available include: green, grey, blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, red, aqua, and beige

- This one is mostly a local sync of recent Steam Datagram system configuration changes, and localization made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You

- Size is close to 20 MB

#1 CS:GO update #3 for 12/7/18 (1.36.6.4) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ RENDERING ]
Fixed graphics regression that caused smoke and molotov particle effects to appear fully transparent.
Fixed client crash on startup on Intel GPUs.
– New users now default to Borderless Windowed mode.

[ GAMEPLAY ]
– Fixed ‘self-boost’ movement regression.
– Fixed players not respawning on round restart if they were in the middle of jumping up onto a platform that would force them to duck.
– Fixed bullet penetration damage regression.
– Fixed molotov not detonating in mid air in non DZ modes.

[ CS:GODZ ]
– The winner of the match now watches their victory from the perspective of the runner up.
– In duo and trio matches teammates are now notified with an onscreen alert if one of them dies.
– Adjusted–and added volume slider for–winner music.
– Recent Teammates now shows teammates from Danger Zone matches.
– Players searching count now shows correct number of people searching for Danger Zone matches.

Rumor has it:

- Most of the size of this update is in model and texture updates for the helicopters and supply boxes

- Semi-related to this update, it appears the new Steam Datagram system infrastructure hosted on Google's Cloud Platform will be getting some use in CS:GO

- A few SDR-related protobufs have also been marked as legacy

- There will also be a few new clusters, 3 of which are likely to be GCP clusters in US West, Germany, and Hong Kong, as well as 4 others that are yet to be determined (Winnipeg as "Canada Central" shilling intensifies)

- Size is ~20 MB

#1 MAJOR CS:GO update for 12/6/18 (Danger Zone & F2P) in CS2 General Discussion

ATTENTION AMD RADEON USERS: Widespread crashing in much the same style as what happened after Operation Wildfire and Newke is occurring. If you're crashing, please see this /r/AMDHelp thread for instructions on posting your minidumps. Valve has been notified about the issue and provided with a link to the thread.

There are also isolated reports of users with Intel graphics having the game refusing to start up, and minidumps are not being produced in those cases.

------------------------

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[CSGO – Danger Zone]
– Introducing Danger Zone, a fast-paced battle royale game mode built on CS:GO’s tactical gameplay. For more details, visit: www.counter-strike.net/dangerzone
– Danger Zone can be played solo, or in squads of two or three players.

[FREE TO PLAY]
– CS:GO is now free to play. For more details, visit the F2P FAQ.
– All players who played CS:GO before the Danger Zone update will receive a commemorative Loyalty Badge they can display on their profile.
– All current CS:GO Players have been upgraded to Prime Status
— Prime Status continues to match you with other Prime Status players
— Additionally, your Prime Status will give you access to the new Souvenir MP5-SD | Lab Rats (available by earning XP while playing Danger Zone matches) and the new Danger Zone case.

[Danger Zone Case]
– Introducing the Danger Zone Case, featuring 17 community-designed weapon finishes, and the Horizon Knives as rare special items.

Rumor has it:

- This is the Loyalty Badge, as described above it's been given to everyone that owned the game before this update. Its flavor text: Strength through loyalty.

https://i.imgur.com/oLnplNg.png

- If you see a skin in the Danger Zone Case that you really like and want to buy off of someone, check out CS:GO Stash which has links to Steam Community Market pages for your convenience. It's also got inventory images too
- You can also see the MP5-SD | Lab Rats here
- And /u/ImThour also points out that there's a set of stickers for Blacksite, including a foil version

- Lots, and I really mean lots of script and config additions for Danger Zone, if you want to know what commands control what: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/30fa4d57a2c38b9270ac075a137bd4d0449c7f83

- Not necessarily related to this update, but Valve is now using the Google Cloud Platform to host some new Steam Datagram system infrastructure in Sao Paulo and Helsinki, in addition to their own infrastructure (and Perfect World's, inside of China)
- Google Cloud Platform clusters are marked with a g before their city's IATA identifier, such as "ghel" for the Google-hosted infrastructure in Helsinki

- Size is close to 1 GB - data capped users should take action now

- Size is ~85 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 11/14/18 (11/15/18 UTC, 1.36.6.0) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[Skill Groups Sticker Capsule]
– Introducing Skill Groups Sticker Capsule featuring 9 designs from community artist daniDem.

[Misc]
– Ammo panel hides burst and bullet icons in “simplified” mode.
– Game icons hud (bomb / hostage icons) respects cl_drawhud and cl_draw_only_deathnotices.

– Human players now go through the death sequence when they disconnect, dropping their items instead of taking them with them into the ether. Server operators can disable this feature with the convar mp_disconnect_kills_players 0. If you find a way to abuse this feature to get extra items / money in Competitive, please send an email to CSGOTeamFeedback@valvesoftware.com with the subject “Player disconnect exploit”.

[Maps]
– Added loading screen credits for Biome and Subzero.

SUBZERO:
– Stability fix for client precipitation rendering
– Simplified B Upper
– Made floor in Vent flat
– Made pit brighter
– Mid entrance for T’s narrowed
– Widened Mid
– Improved clipping
– General optimizations

- Go take a peek at the Skill Groups Sticker Capsule! Just press the rich diff button on the ones you want to view, or look a little further down here for direct links
- And definitely consider giving a round of applause to /u/danidem over here
- The Skill Groups Sticker Capsule is purchasable through the Coupons section on the main menu for $1 (or CA$1.25 because you know what else is too funny? Canada's stupid monopoly money, can't take 'em seriously at all)

- In order of noob to not noob:
- Silver:

- All but Silver and Global Elite also have Holo variants. For Silver and Global Elite, they have an alternative Foil treatment
- Don't tell anybody, but the Silver sticker may have one surprise about it. Definitely not more than two but less than four though, that's for sure.

- /u/FuneralChris (our resident console enthusiast?) brings some details on another new cvar that wasn't mentioned, mp_disconnect_kills_bots
- In case you're wondering, dsp_room has gone back to being an integer as part of a back-and-forth with the last few updates between being a float of "29.000000" and an integer of "29". Place your bets on if the next update makes it a float again

- This update contains a healthy dose of localization made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[HOLIDAY]
– Halloween has come to a close. Thanks for celebrating with us!

[SCOREBOARD]
– Added clinch marker to the timeline. The timeline will now show the earliest round at which the match can end, and which team can win the match on it.
– Scoreboard player stats now support any number of rounds. Player stats will no longer reset every overtime.
– Added more stats to Demolition and Flying Scoutsman.

[MAPS]
Biome and Subzero have been added to Competitive Matchmaking!

Cbble:

-Re-enabled boost on B site
-Lowered cover in headshot position in Long A
-Reduced amount of coffins
-Increased amount of wood barrels
– De-spookified cbble loading screen
– Exorcised and dusted the cbble radar

Rumor has it:

- Reasons for a player's disconnection are now going to be a lot more clearer in many cases, such as when players were kicked for excessive teamkilling ("For killing too many teammates"), for knifing someone right at the start of a round ("For killing a teammate at round start"), AFK ("Player idle"), for jumping off on Vertigo ("For suiciding too many times"), and more

- Cobblestone's spoopy scary thumbnail is no more as well

- For the console enthusiasts, /u/FuneralChris has today's command updates, including a revert of the last update altering dsp_room from a float to an integer back to a float

- Size is ~40 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 10/29/18 (10/30/18 UTC, 1.36.5.8) in CS2 General Discussion
