played my first game an hour ago, system worked fine. i didn't do well at all but had a lot of fun :D
mmrarktei dont see this replacing actual pugs
most of the games devolve into shitfests because people give up or are totally incompetent at the classes they play(usually scouts and medics)
think its mostly here to replace lobbys which is still exactly like what you described it as now. But once there is elo deviation from each player you will play with players who are commited to winning and skilled ( depending on your elo).

Wouldn't the quality of the pugs increase once more people actually play and gain levels with the faceit rankings?
Right now mostly everyone is like level 3 but as you win, your rankings goes up over time.
Maybe I don't understand how the ranking system works but if say 40 added up, wouldn't the system match teams based off the faceit rankings?

avaiihndoes ingame voice have really low input and output volume for anyone else? I have both turned all the way up but i can barely understand anyone and nobody can really understand me.
This is the biggest issue I have with the FaceIT pugs at this time and the only negative I can mention about the service that they can control/improve.
I believe the quality of pugs would increase significantly if all players were forced (motivated) to join the same voice program before the pug begins. Organizing this in-game with the 5 other guys has been difficult at best. Having voice would allow more experienced players to lead the way and for newer players to have a better chance at learning and getting a feel for competitive.
The setup pugchamp employs is extremely efficient and helpful. FaceIT should mirror that system or have something similar. When the server is setup, the launch window could also have an option to connect with a chosen voice program.

Of course they would.
One of the problems I think the FACEIT system faces right now is the fact that player skills are fluctuating a lot.
By that I mean that a lot of people are trying the system for a few games, most are not staying, but those people are not all of equal skill level (invite to newbie), making some games unbalanced, but out of reach for FACEIT MM/ELO to fix it.
I don't really think there's a definite fix for that, maybe a bigger impact on ELO in case of stomps (5-0, under 20 minute games, etc) for people who just started playing.
Skill partitioning should be a lot quicker for such a small playerbase, i.e. b4nny shouldn't only be lvl 7 after 80 games won at 80% winrate, etc.
But then again, TF2 is proving to raise a lot of problems from their platform that probably doesn't exist for CS:GO, which might beg them the question "is TF2 actually fitting our platform?"
EDIT: This is b4nny's ELO after every match he played

FACEIT are definitely not rolling out a system that requires you third party software to communicate with teammates, having to deal with all that breaks the whole "click a few buttons and get a proper match" catch of the website. Sure, the entire comp community has mumble installed, but it might not be the case for the newer players.
In-game voice is good enough for comms, just take a few moments to set it up properly.
Of course they would.

They also probably want to use in-game voice communication because they can review possible reports (insults, harassing, etc), since they're recorded in the STV demos.

That is a nice thought but you can't force anyone to use in-game voice comms either. If this ever takes off as a real popular pug system, the higher level players are probably just going to have ppl join their mumble channels while the map picking process is taking place or in pre-game.

The advantages of using in-game voice are that everyone is automatically entered into the same voice channel and that random outsiders can't interfere with the comms. The quality and latency seem fine, no real issues there. But certainly, the lack of comms from some players can be a problem, though I'm still not convinced it's any problem with the system itself. I find it quite strange that the same people who would speak a lot in a mumble speak very little or don't speak at all in the in-game voice. My theory is that many people have voice_enable 0 set to get rid of all the voice noise from MGE/DM/Pub servers and haven't changed that. There is also apparently a glitch where all Mac OS users can't be understood, but that should be fixed when the codec comes out of beta.
I have my in-game voice disabled and I am pretty sure I did that years ago because it was push-to-talk only and I use voice activation for my headset. I never really kept track to know if this changed or if it is still the same.

Pretty much exactly what I suspected. I don't think it's fair to have issue with lack of communication when you are neither listening to nor contributing to team comms.

I wasn't referring to myself in any way. I hear the in-game comms perfectly but I will not use push-to-talk because it effects how I play.
I was speaking to the larger issue of encouraging newer players to use voice comms in a competitive setting. IMO, if the goal is to get more people into comp, it would be good to encourage using voice comms via one system or another be it in-game or external. Right now, there is nothing in place.

The easiest way to encourage people to use ingame voice comms is to lead by example.

I don't run FaceIT
If I did, a voice comm system would be highly encouraged for every player adding up for pugs.
I am not saying the systems are not already in place.
I am not saying experienced players can't go out of their way to try and organize their teams comms in pugs.
I am saying that the pug system offered by FaceIT should try and encourage new players to use voice comms in some way.
It will offer a much better pug experience and a more accurate competitive TF atmosphere for new players. Some pugs on FaceIT have felt like Valve MatchMaking because of no voice comms and they certainly don't want that.
In the end, this is just one mans opinion. FaceIT might not care about voice comms at all, so none of it probably matters. Either way, I still enjoy the pugs.

is there any way of making the faceit helper launch tf2 instead of csgo
Avvyis there any way of making the faceit helper launch tf2 instead of csgo
in theory someone could update the faceit helper to support TF2 because the code is all open source here: https://github.com/Poheart/FACEIT-HELPER

Yeah, I fixed it and asked them to change it accordingly
You can hope they accept the changes soon, or you could directly use the fixed version by:
- Downloading https://github.com/ldesgoui/FACEIT-HELPER/archive/patch-1.zip and extracting it
- Opening chrome://extensions
- Enabling Developer Mode
- Click "Load unpacked extension" and chose the folder you just extracted (Should be FACEIT-HELPER-patch-1)
I'm not going to keep this updated, so check the actual extension once in a while to see if it's been updated.

no report system so someone can go afk for 20 minutes and we can blow a 3-1 lead :)
Yeah Faceit seems practically unusable until there is some kind of sub system. Had someone disconnect <30 seconds after a game started for 5 games in a row. It's pretty much a waste of time right now to solo queue.
