Hey guys im getting a new keyboard this Christmas and i was wondering if you guys could help me find one, my price range is about 100 to 120 dollars. im finally going to be able to stop copy and pasting e's, as well, i will never buy a razer keyboard again. Style and looks don't matter too much to me, im really looking for something reliable that wont break as soon as pressure is applied to the keys.

flippersare steelseries keyboards reliable?

I don't see really see people on this site use them. I personally would get a higher quality one with 100 dollars like this: http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless&pid=fc200rrab
You could browse the site for more if you don't like the switches/because it's TKL.

Steelseries isn't that great. There have been a million of these threads.

Most recommendations are Leopold, Filco, Das Keyboard, and Ducky's.

Never seen a review before so I just googled and this is the first thing that came up. It seems pretty good but I would get someone to confirm. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/reviews/steelseries_6gv2_review

Ordering this for christmas: Adesso MK135b
and the Zowie AM and of course the Artisan Hayate. I noticed the Hayate is M and only 12" there, but I only use about 10" of space on my QCK+ right now to begin with. Feeling liek it'll be a good setup.

I own the 6gv2 with Black switches. I bought it about 2 years ago and Ive been pretty satisfied with it. good build quality. looking back i wish I did more research and found a board with better quality for the price. but i got it for like $30 off at the time so it was worth it Id say.

Recently bought the FC700R brown switches. Amazing keyboard - though if you want the numpad get the FC500R (I think?).

Great simplicity and functionality with build quality.

Not sure how much it costs in the US, but I spent $120 AUD.

Do not buy a 6GV2.

Buy a Leopold. Here's one with red switches.

Let me put this into perspective for you. If you could buy a Mercedes or a Bentley for the same price, which would you buy?

Oh. That's unfortunate. There are some other reasonable keyboards. What site are you using just out of curiosity? I'll have a look for you if you want since I'm on lunch break.

Unless you decided on the 6gv2. Tbh red switches really are hit and miss with a lot of people - I'd go with brown if you can. Great responsiveness and not too sensitive unlike red.

I guess it just depends what you like.

I would recommend this personally. Brown switches are amazing and it's a good keyboard (and unless I'm an idiot, fits into your $120 price range?)

I chose reds (after debating between them and black), so I'll put my opinion here.

They are incredibly light. I like them when I am playing games, but I get annoyed with it when typing sometimes since the buttons are so light that it is easy to make mistakes and/or double tap a key.

I wish they would've offered the specific keyboard that I wanted with black switches, as I think I would've preferred them over reds.

You'll get used to typing on them after a while. I was kinda ambivalent towards my reds at the start but I like them a lot now.

Thats why I recommended browns over reds.

this

Nothing you stated really nets you a need to get a mech keyboard. Save yourself the money. Microsoft keyboards last pretty long (mine lasted over 4 years no problem), they don't have significant rollover issues, and are really cheap. You'll game the same. Save yourself the money unless you are really going to type a lot and want a different feel to typing.

If you care about type texture and all that stuff, then go through the thread though.
