EsDeeKaythere´s probably going to be less people watching.

Entirely the wrong attitude to take.

No matter who got the contract, you should watch the stream to help TF2's total viewer numbers.
Stick it on 240p and mute it if you want, but keep it running.

Also, keep this drama to Steam & IRC next time thnx.

So long as djc and Lange and those guys are casting I'll be watching all day and night, like last year.

Did vtv just undercut tf.tv or did tf.tv, who appear to have the talent from previous productions, epically fuck up their pitch? The time to speculate is now.

Can't be too hard to make Multiplay change their minds can it? I mean TFTV are basically everything that VTV was last time around, it's just a matter of making Multiplay aware of that I presume.

And Arx don't pretend like cooperation between TFTV and VTV hasn't been out of the picture since way back.

Kharne told us straight up the reason they chose VTV is because of their previous track record for LAN coverage.

aykarinBut surely - you guys can still work together? I mean, for an event which might bring 3 teams from 3 different continents, surely co-operation is the theme?!

Thats the thing, we did. For a year and a half we put aside our differences and tried to be as constructive as possible. The bottom line is that when you're working for free, not being given the respect you'd expect, and the distribution of credit is very top heavy, there's only so long you can put up with it. TF2TV and Byte's up and coming casting org both folded to create VTV together. What has happened over the last 6 months is proof that being completely altruistic doesn't work in the long run.

skyrideOk, so when it comes to onsite casting of i-series, it basically comes down to me and Comedian. We plan everything months in advance, we work the interviews that will happen, etc. Everything.

Comedian did it by himself at i43, I helped out at i45, and i46 was a joint effort. There was pretty much no input from anyone else in VTV on the matter. We did it all and didn't have a problem with that.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL38C637BE4F7F68C8

great job of organising and filming and editing and starring in all this coverage from i43 and i45 those 2 lans that you did everything single handed at Skyride.

nobhead

on topic, VTV and TFTV should manup and join forces and get over any personal issues that people may have with each other.

Obviously I can only predict what the true motivation for Multiplay's decision to go with VTV for i49 coverage was, but after reading that document I can see why it would certainly leave an impression - albeit not a good one. The way it's written is clearly based around a personal vendetta more than it is trying to sell the reasons why you should be the organisation to provide the LAN coverage, and as a result comes across as unprofessional and shallow.

At the very least, if someone from Multiplay would read that proposal and decide to do a little background check on VTV/teamfortress.tv, what would they find? An array of mud slinging over multiple competitive TF2 websites and forums. I think the fact that you are so outspoken regarding your dissatisfaction towards VTV has actually been detrimental towards a successful pitch.

Holyshitwtfisgoingoninhere.
Are you telling me half of the tf.tv crew is not going to lan because.... wait, why even? Because you do not get money form multiplay? I thought most of the costly preps have been done already? Why don't you just all go there anyway? If I was going, I would just take my EOS, a decent mic, a labtop and have a mobile streaming platform and dun. That should be enough to interview drunk tf2 players sitting on stairs. I can see people being pissed off about this whole "who gets the official production" garbage, but how could that be a reason not to go to the event at all?

all i can say is vtv is really shit at utilizing social media

I made reddit threads in all the appropriate subreddits and told various affiliated with the vtv organization "tell viewers to le upboat these". the only time they did was when some retard on day one was eating pizza on stream for 3 hours and I think it ended up having more viewers than the finals.

#78 They aren't going because their purpose for doing so was to help with production. Since VTV will have that handled, Lange in particular would probably not have anything to do. So he's decided against going, it seems.

Reads to me like a pretty standard sales pitch. They saw an opening to take business from a competitor and they wrote a proposal explaining why they can do better. It's a shame that VTV and TFTV are competitors, because they really don't have anything to gain by being such, but differing personalities at the top will do that to ya, I guess.

The mud-slinging on the forums does seem really petty though.

#82 I can do that in Houston for far less money, and I think Lange is in a similar situation. It's a lot more exciting to go to i49 for broadcast purposes than for the basic LAN package.

EsDeeKayStop acting like you guys are 12 years old. It probably wasn´t the best choice to pick VTV over TFTV.
no offense to anyone on VTV but tftv has so much more quality at this moment and is still growing. Multiplay picked VTV, that´s their choice isn´t it? It´s really annoying that Lange isn´t coming to i49 but we can´t really change Multiplay´s choice.

EDIT: it´s also really annoying that we won´t be having the tftv coverage ofcourse.

Whats does tftv has that vtv doesnt? Just curious..

I'd just like to add that I carried Vanilla coverage on my back at i46... or was I carried out on my back?

P.S. I will pay $300 to see Lange at i49.

I dont see the issue in having both logos, and stream it on both channels.

TFTV's coverage has been good when it comes to ESEA and american leagues, but I am dissapointed in their EU coverage. Are you really trying to tell me I should rather be watching Chaplain and Hildreth cast a game than Arx and Beta? Now in the end it comes down to who you like to listen to. But to be blunt i could only expect Arx and Beta to draw the larger crowd between those two duos.

Now. If only the EU coverage was as good as their NA coverage things would change. But the impression I have got is that thats not the case as of the content that is out.

I really dont understand why there is a quarrel between TFTV and VTV. This is neither of yours event. This is multiplays event. Look it from their perspective. In a business perspective I would much rather outsource it to an organisation i have worked with before and has done a good job previously. Therefore VTV. And that is what they did.

Now if TFTV wants to do some content for this lan (Which they should be eager to do) then they have to cooperate with VTV, on VTV's premises. Multiplay outsourced it to VTV, and therefore its VTV's responsible.

I have no idea what happens internally between the two organizations, but calm your tits down and try to sort it out. Trashing eachother on public forums is like the least professional way of doing stuff. (And you are professional arent you?)
