I preemptively apologize if this sounds like a blog. I just need some advice.

So my hip started bothering me a couple days ago, and I just shrugged it off. Yesterday however, it started becoming painful and I began to limp. I noticed that there was a leg discrepancy; my right leg was significantly (1cm or more?) longer than my left. Along with that, there was the pain in my right hip, so I had to bend it constantly due to its length and the pain.

This alleviated most of my problems, but because of the uselessness of my right leg, I had to put a lot of pressure onto my left, causing my heel to always be driven down. I noticed some pain in my left knee today. My sister thought it was SCFE, and recommended I go to the orthopedist, and I did today. My doctor also thought SCFE was likely and he sent me to the orthopedist. Got an x-ray, and I'll be getting my results tomorrow.

I'd like to ask a couple questions to people who might have or had this problem or anyone who has had surgery in their life.

For people who have/had SCFE:
1. How did you get treated? If you had to get the pin put inside you, did it hurt (after surgery)?
2. Were crutches or any device (cane, wheelchair, etc) needed? P.S. I'm currently using a cane.
3. This is the scary part for me. When you had the nail in you, how did it feel..? Could you feel it in your hip? And how long does it stay in there? I'm absolutely terrified about that.

For people have had surgery:
1. Were there any problems after the procedure? How much have scars from incisions affected you?

There is probably a forum for people with your condition (or at least a medical forum), not sure you're gonna get much help from here.

Regarding nails (I didn't have the condition you describe though), I broke my arm very near the elbow in 2004, and definitely couldn't feel the nails. You'll need another surgery appointment to get them out, but other than that, that's probably it, at least as far as I can see from the x-ray images on wikipedia. My nails stayed in for about 3 months, but I have no idea about your case.

As for the scars, back then I receives some kind of jelly that was supposed to help make the scars smaller, but it was supposed to be applied just before sleeping, so I never used it - I hate having anything wet in my bed. The scar remains prominent to this day, but it isn't in a particularly problematic area, and yours should be under even less stress, being near the hip and all.

Still, for more accurate information, I recommend you ask a professional.

why dont people just google their questions? You should be fine man dont worry about it. My friends have had nails and rods put in them before and theyve never really complained of pain. Make a list of questions and get your doctor to answer them. He'll be able to answer your question much more adeptly than most people on here.

not trying to sound like a dick, i've had surgery done before and i'm just saying from experience that it's best just to talk to your doctor/specialist. just think its kind of silly coming here (which people seem to be doing quite often now) these forums have a pretty young crowd i don't think you will get all the answers you're looking for

Think he was asking for personal experiences with nails in your bones and shit.

Just had my arm violently ripped off by a gorilla.

wondering if anyone here knows what to do about this blood loss.

I've had a screw in my thumb for about a year now (much more minor than anything on your hip), but I haven't been able to feel it. I've never noticed there being a difference between how I felt before and after the operation. I've sort of just accepted it as normal (which is just as well considering I'll have it for the rest of my life). Going off my experience, there's nothing to worry about, but there may be a difference in the severity of the injuries so don't take that as final :)

The screws are that big of a deal but it really varies from person to person though.

As for the scars, they'll be pretty bad for awhile but fade over time. I'm 3 years a bit out from having screws removed and the scars are still there but faded enough that most people don't notice them. Plus you'res will be microcuts most likely (incision < 3 cm) so even if they don't ever fade they'll be tiny.

I think they'll be like 100k in debt by going to a doctor. Its easier just to ask on tf2 forums
