Several months ago, a young woman named Kirria from the Phillipines added me on Facebook. We had no mutual friends so it was a little unexpected, but she seemed like a nice young lady so I accepted her friend request. She was quite a bit older than me, as I'm 18 and she's 22, but it was fun to talk to her read her broken English. She would always tell me that she wants me to take her to America, marry her, and start a family. I'm a little too young to be making decisions like that with Filipino women on the internet that I've never met so I would always say "maybe one day, my precious Filipino parfait" and try to change the conversation.
A few days after the typhoon hit the phillipines I sent her a message asking her if she's alright. It's been a week since then and she hasn't responded. I have come to the conclusion that she was most likely one of the 10,000 that died as a result of the typhoon.
Rest in peace, Kirria. I will miss you forever.

I live in a country where catastrophes happen periodically and when the most recent one stroked, a big earthquake, almost the whole country went out of electricity and supplies for like a week, not to mention houses were destroyed and there were a lot of material loses beside the lives lost. Having to deal with all of it, the least thing I would be thinking of if I was her would be checking facebook.
