Didn't see a thread with it. Figured I'd just make one.
So how do you guys, practice or just do rocket surfing?
Also if you have any advice on how to improve in general.
Cause I find it surprisingly addicting and fun just like normal rocket jumping.

I'm always down to hop into mge to either bomb medics or be bombed as a medic. Medic dm in itself is incredibly satisfying.

I also like to play in pubs like hightower, people like bombing you, and I like getting away.
I'd just find a friend who like to bomb you for practice.

I find that practicing "sync" jumps as a soldier is decent practice for rocket surfing. The key is reading where the rocket is going to land AND the timing of when it hits. At that point, you'll just jump+crouch on the side of the splash radius, and then strafe as you normally would around a corner (or wherever you need to be).

I would say that doing sync jumps a soldier + surf maps as a medic will help you practice. However, don't be afraid to practice rocket surfing within scrims in order to work on reading pockets/roamers. The only thing I can think of that would help with timing would be practicing surfing rockets in DM as a scout.

Just playing soldier mge can help as pretty much every round there are rockets being fired at you that you can surf, and it's in your best interest to get good at it so you can avoid airshots. As far as raw practice goes, you can always get some friends in a server, bind impulse 101/hurtme -10000, and fuck around for a while. I think the two most important aspects of it are awareness and timing. Being able to recognize situations where you're going to be bombed (you stay alive on mid and your team picks the enemy med) is just as important as being able to pull off the surf itself.

These are some really legit ways. Never thought about switching it around with stuff like syncs.
Thanks a lot, I'll try it out. :)
