i'm looking for a torrent client that is as robust as the newsgroup clients. primarily what I want is the ability to categorize files into folders depending on different factors such as name and extension. to do that it will need the ability to automatically extract files from archives, which I haven't noticed in a client yet. any ideas?

uTorrent lets you run a program after downloading. You can then just program a cataloging exe combined with a batch file to pipe through.

ie, cmd.bat <file_that_was_torrented>
inside cmd.bat (psuedocode):
if(archive file)
zip extract <file_that_was_corrented>

catalog.exe <folder>

Still a lot of annoying work to do though.

brownymasters way would work

For the customization you want I would go with rtorrent

I believe Transmission can move torrents to another folder when finished. Then all you do is have a script run every minute or whatever to categorize/extract/whatever you want based on filename. (Or something else)
