Sometime ago I waited for computer parts to arrive, which they did 2 month later. During that time i was stuck with a shitty asus laptop, consistent 40 fps, a noisy fan/jet reactor, a broken D key, so i had to move all the keys 4 columns to the right, to "tfgh" instead of "wasd". Sure made me enjoy my new computer. What's the worst you've had to deal with?

I once had a super shitty computer that allowed me to have like 20-30 fps in the heat of battle even with maxframes cfg. My monitor was hanging upside down, nailed to a bookcase above it. The keyboard and mouse were wireless and had awful registration. And no key pad on the keyboard. Instead of a table, I played on a tilted piano key cover. It was horrid.

Hmm, for me it's a setup I am still running(but not playing with). It's my old computer with a AMD sempron(2800+) @2GHz, along with 2GB(DDR1) ram plus my old pal, ATI Radeon HD 2400 pro. Could run decently TF2 at launch. Was playing @1280x1024 mix of High/medium settings +vsync on, so had stable 60fps. Later on I learnt that my monitor could push a 85Hz so skipped the +vysnc and game ran steadily between 90-100fps(could randomly dip to 40). Now if I launch tf2, it takes a few min to load the game and then a min or two to join a server. Basically between 15-30fps @800x600 with chrismaxfps config.

The connection I had for 5-6 years suddenly starts giving me massive ping spikes, which after trying numerous things and contacting support, I discontinued.
My current connection has pretty stable ping, with less than 5ms of variance, but servers where I'd normally get 70-80 ping now give me 140, and to make matters worse, no amount of re-routing via a VPN or WTFast help for some inexplicable reason. Even contacted WTFast support and they told me that my ISP is a bunch of idiots doing weird shit with their routing and network infrastructure.
It's literally like I can't get good ISPs within a 2km radius of my house.

When I first started playing TF2, I played it on a ~2009 Macbook Pro with a wireless Apple mouse and shitty home internet that would freeze whenever anyone used the microwave. Finally got a desktop for the first time this Christmas and by god if it isn't the most amazing thing ever to play at 144 hz with 300 frames.

I played on and old old old ass laptop that i had to prop above a fan with tissue boxes to it would't overheat. I didn't have enough desk space for a mouse, so I had to use a track pad, which trust me is worse than the worse mouse imaginable. I know that because soon after I moved up to using a mouse that had fallen on a heater and was all warped from the heat. I also have internet that just decided to cut out and go up and extra 200 ping occasionally, although most of the time it is decent.
Now I have a high-end gaming PC that I built, and a 144hz monitor and on my nice new desk a 17x13 mouse pad on which I use my new Zowie mouse, and by god if it isn't the nicest thing I have ever experienced. Definitely worth the money after that hell of being a teenager without a job. I still have to deal with the internet though. :c

I played my first season of iron with a mac desktop from 2007 I think. I got about 15 fps in tf2 with maxframes and it took about 30 minutes to connect to a server. It always timed out on the first connect so more like 15 minutes. I played with a logitech wireless mouse and I sat on a stool oh the good iron days

it's so old that it doesn't even exist on the internet anymore, but it was kind of like this only shittier.. only one earphone, not USB, shitty cheap black foam that eventually wore completely off

I didn't have a desk before so I played on the ground with a mouse that came with the computer back when we bought it. this was like 2 years ago and the comp was old af. somehow I gathered enough money to get a desk and a good running desktop and a good mouse, mousepad, keyboard, etc
