If you look inside the files themselves you will see:

"ExplosionEffect"		"electrocuted_red_flash"
"ExplosionPlayerEffect"		"electrocuted_blue_flash"
"ExplosionWaterEffect"		"electrocuted_red_flash"

It's pretty self explanatory, the "ExplosionEffect" is for normal ground explosions, "ExplosionPlayerEffect" is for direct and air explosions it seems and "ExplosionWaterEffect" is just underwater explosions.

While not exactly related or exactly useful if you use some of the other particles you can create permanent particle effects that could be fun to mess with, for example I used the "critical_rocket_blue" to do this:

couldn't help myself and tested that; it indeed works. luckily not on pure 1 or pure 2.
..and then i found one that's way worse - it shows everything through everything. players, sentries, stickies, weapons..

Personal edit of broesel 2.5 w/ a lot of stuff that will probably not work on anything but 1920x1080. There's a pretty good chance a lot of stuff is broken on it but it should work fine for most things, there is a changelog in there somewhere so you can see most of what I have changed.

You'll need to find the ctx file for the weapon you want to edit particles on and decompile it into a txt file, from there just open the file and look for the following things:

"ExplosionEffect"		"electrocuted_red_flash"
	"ExplosionPlayerEffect"		"electrocuted_blue_flash"
	"ExplosionWaterEffect"		"electrocuted_red_flash"

I explained what each of those do in an earlier post but you'll just need to replace the particle with one from the link earlier, keep in mind that a lot of the particles will not work properly and a bunch will not even render.

clean tf2 has been completely broken for me since the March 18th update, even the things that supposidely work make my game crash and feel all stuttery.

These are pretty cool. Am I the only one that can't really play with these as soldier, though? Maybe it's because I am out of practice for the class, but my spam game just feels really shit with these on. I can't properly gauge explosion distance from enemies :/

i feel the same way, but i can imagine that you will get used to it and then start liking how clean it is.
i guess there's less visual representation of the blast radius, which might throw you off.
but i'd just keep it for a while to get a bit more used to it

I agree. I've been playing with these for a little over a week, and I'm looking to change back as a scout. I can't discern blast radius or tell if someone is spamming without an explosion effect. They're clean and pretty for a few days, then you start realizing what you're missing out on.

I made a VPK of the script instead of having to add it to a scripts folder or the hud itself.

In my customs folder I have 7Hud. I put the ctx files in the scripts folder of 7hud - didn't work.
I made a different folder in customs, made a scripts folder there, and put the ctx files in - didn't work.

Can anyone help me out please?

Kermit's vpk fixed my issue, but you have to put it in /tf/custom, NOT in the scripts folder, just into custom.

What hud is being used in the mad's archive and how do I disable it?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out, just had to delete resources and materials and anything hud related in the other 2 files. The hud in the archive seems to give more fps than toons hud.
