LATEST UPDATE: 17.08.03.0 (HAPPY NEW YEAR!)
A LETTER FROM THE CEO
Nearly eight years ago, a few of the mercenaries I sold weapons to complained about an issue. Apparently, they had a hard time keeping track of how many rockets their hairless chests could take before they dropped dead. And how many grenades could tickle the fool faces of their mates until they dropped dead too. And how many bullets they had left to jam into their high quality Mann. Co guns to make stuff more deader (we here at Mann Co. want only the highest grade of dead resulting from our product) before they are a sitting, idiot, soon dead, duck.
I said to them, well, that’s ridiculous. Just kill the other men with your bare fists. Take it from me, Saxton Hale: if they are dead, they can’t hurt you, and your fists never run out of ammunition. My assistant, Mr. Bidwell, informed me that some of you play with “tagg-ticks” and “strangle-tees” which I thought was ridiculous and utter bull!@#$, but the man hadn’t failed me yet.
I took his advice and told the eggheads in our Mann Co. Design Dept. to fashion some sort of way for those little girls in the gravelpits to see what the hell was going on in the fight.
After what was obviously a mere few hours, they brought to me something called a heads-up display. Of course, I wanted the mercs to effectively test their weapons with some information about themselves and the product they were using in mind. I had never seen a heads-up display before then so I had nothing to compare it to. So I said yes, give it to them.
Over these last eight years, some particularly clever mercs found out a way to crack into the files that make the heads-up display tick and modified it. They changed positions of elements, changed colors and fonts used, added some things the eggheads overlooked, and shared it with the other mercs.
I, myself, along with the eggheads at the Mann Co. Design Dept., examined these modifications that were made over the few years, and very much enjoyed the innovations.
We decided that the original heads-up display simply did not cut the mustard of these fighters’ standards.
We needed to rebuild.
Of course, we needed to keep that special Mann Co. je ne sais quoi that we were known for. So we vowed when we started the project that we would only use resources from the original heads-up display to keep that aesthetic and flavor intact.
And then I left them to it.
This summer, many drafts of this new project were made. Many were made and thrown out, and some had aspects that were preferable. Those aspects survived all the way to the final product. Those were the most fit. The product below is the fittest heads-up display we have made, and we sincerely hope you like it.

wow this honestly looks great
e: the charge bars are too small/close to crosshair for me and probably most people though, and the font is sometimes cut off. a lot of elements are cluttered too. the hp/ammo and general styling is great tho

N1ghTAren't Transparent Viewmodels rip?
Transparent viewmodels do not rest in peace! They are not dead at all! Rather, they rest in pieces! Multiple pieces! Working only in DirectX 9.
mat_motion_blur_enabled 1 //afaik the only sure-fire way to keep refract masking on
mat_motion_blur_strength 0 //effectively disables motion blur, personal choice + motion blur gets masked and looks bad with refract masking
mat_disable_bloom 1 //disables bloom so refract masking doesn't create a dark rectangle over light materials
mat_hdr_level 0
mat_colcorrection_disableentities 1
mat_colorcorrection 0
Put that little number in your automatically executing configuration file (making sure your graphical modifications do not repeat any commands and override them).
Then go to the scripts\hudlayout.res file. Near the top will be TransparentViewmodelMask. Make sure that "visible" and "enabled" are both "1".
An acquaintance has brought to my attention that the highlander scoreboard does not work the way it should. I am also going to make the Transparent Viewmodels off by default for our friends stuck in DirectX 8.
This baby is getting its first ever update!!

This is an alternate, benevolent Mann Co.! You were mistaken for a hot second.

Looks nice, but using blur on your fonts can kill your frames. So if i were you I'd release a version without the font blur.

Damn it, I thought this was like some in-game HUD creator straight from Valve when I first opened the thread.

Can you make the capture points larger?
edit: on a second thought the control points are well proportioned, just that a bit hard to read

Considering I cannot stand TF2 font huds, I'm amazed by how sick this still looks to me. Those animations are some premium-grade excellence.
Also as a writer god damn that is some talent, keeping to the Saxton character so well. Hats off (HEH)

OH, I knew I was forgetting an essential part of the main post! Thank you for reminding me!
You see, as I said above, we looked through many different projects for inspiration and all that baloney.
You and Eric's scoreboard from xHUD was simply the best (better than all the rest)! It fit our vision for the Mannterface to a T!
I will, right now, go through each part of the HUD and give credit to the different parts in the original post, as well as append them to this post for easy viewing both ways! Ta-ta!
EDIT:

Not unlike The Combat Medic's Crusher Cap and the Heavy Artillery Officer's Cap (buy our hats), these are permanently tilted.
If there were a way to tilt or rotate elements in this damned game, you bet your ass the low- and high-health animations would be even more fun than they are now AND those photos would not all be tilting in the same direction.
Those are placeholders. We'll find better, non-custom Valve Texture Files to replace those.

In the initial release of the Mannterface, I made the crosshair character "0", not looking at Knuckles' image, thinking "0" would be blank! But it's not! I fixed this in the most recent version (15.08.26.2), making it something else, and making it both disabled and invisible.
Knuckles_On that note thanks for using my font <3
I hope it becomes the standard (if it is not already), because it should be!
