picking maps would be alright 2 years from now or w/e but rn we need to make it as fast paced and fun as possible for everyone, and map queues make that hard

I can't believe we haven't even had matchmaking open yet, and we already have a scrub for everyone to gawk at as an example of "don't be like this"
remember, if you barge into someone else's mumble and get muted, it's censorship

eeepicking maps would be alright 2 years from now or w/e but rn we need to make it as fast paced and fun as possible for everyone, and map queues make that hard
it doesnt neccesseraly make mm slower
you could just pick all maps
and if this mm update brings as much players as the mm "closed" beta did when they started giving passes, i assure you search time wouldnt be very long

You know an update is going to be intense when they have to ship a smaller update before it just to make sure the game can handle it.
Also interesting that according to the HUD files they're going with BO3 for MM. In the beta this felt really short but maybe with ranks actually doing something rounds will have a bit of back and forth. iunno man I'm pretty hyped unless they ruin customisation.

k0ngzysaamk0ngzycan't wait for 60 tic deathmatches with viewmodels. It's exactly what b4nny envisioned for PC gaming and competitive TF2 as a whole.
you complain a lot for someone who's literally never played a competitive tf2 match
You dont complain enough and that's what makes you a weak frail beta autist.
Someone ban this troll before I cringe to death.

bo3 is so damn short that by the time you've convinced the engi and spy mains to play proper classes the game's probably going to have ended. I don't really like the idea, it's not like pubbers aren't used to playing for at least half an hour at a time.
The only reason that the winlimit needs to be so small is because valve hates timelimit thanks to their american friends, can someone who actually understands time pressure please enlighten them as to how stalematey american tf2 is?

I just played a 20 minute game, they can be long since the rounds don't have time limits, only the 10 min capture limit.

20 minutes is far from long enough for a matchmade game. CS games last for around 50 minutes. That's a lot more reasonable and it actually enables you to get to know your team of randoms a little bit. Isn't the entire point of this that pubbers get the chance to play in a more team-based format?

Its almost certain that it is because in the picture theirs two skeletons and both wearing the scout cosmetics and in the game the medic killed two scout

the problem is that tf2 isn't csgo and most mm games will end up being x-0 rolls. cs has more randomness as to who wins fights at low levels and the lack of respawns and the economy means having longer games makes sense.

correct, i guess?
and most mm games will end up being x-0 rolls.
might need a fact check on this one
cs has more randomness as to who wins fights at low levels
debatable, I suppose you're referring to the lower TTK and the higher chance of being shot in the back without having a chance to react? There's plenty of dumb shit that goes on in lower level pubs as well. I mean, if you or I were to play a 'silver' level TF2 mm game, it would be difficult for us to die very often, but do you really think Get_Right would have any more trouble in a silver cs game? I think there's probably plenty of randomness that can affect fights at lower levels.

Playing a team game where you actually have to set everyone's roles at the start of every game and communicate together effectively also means that having longer games makes sense. As I said before, by the time you get the perma spy onto soldier or scout a bo3 is probably going to already be over. At least with a timelimit + windifference ruleset you have a chance to come back once he's stopped being quite as useless, and perhaps as a bonus he'll be able to learn some new things about the game or playing in a team from your shotcalling or whatever. There just isn't time for getting to know your teammates when most mm games are less than ten minutes long.

Counterpoint: when games get longer than ten minutes, noobs get bored of playing competent classes and start doing inexplicable things like switching to lvl-3 Engineer to push Gullywash last (based on a true story).
I've had great experiences with strangers in MM (usually joining as a 4- or 5- stack and finding our 6th surprisingly competent) and end with us adding each other on steam for them to join our party, but I've also had games where the 6th was both braindead and indignant that anyone would suggest they change strategies, and if I had to do a Bo5 with them I'd just want to abandon.

once you get high enough in rank you'd be expected to see less and less of that type of player, maybe once you hit silver you can start doing Bo5's?
