man that movie was great, no shitty jumpscares but actual tension

The Thing (1982) is my favorite all time movie
Uses practical effects which do look dated but it's not really about the monster

Not sure if it classifies as a horror film but the first Alien movie is a classic.
YorkTheDorkIt Follows was pretty good.
it follows also has one of the better soundtracks of a horror movie
if you're a fan of found footage i'd recommend the old rec and creep (2015) (never watched creep but a friend recommended it)

The Tunnel, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1735485/, is really good imo. Not sure what my absolute favourite is but that's up there.
As Above, So Below is pretty sick too, but I'm a sucker for found footage movies.

Event Horizon, I watched some of it when I was like 10 and it scared the shit out of me, I can no longer watch any of it at all, it's scarred me for life.
Watch the Japanese version of Shutter. Follow that up with both Conjuring movies. Also Rosemary's Baby. It Follows is certainly good, but Disasterpeace's soundtrack is the one thing carrying it. The plot itself makes little sense.

Event Horizon is a movie that I loved until the last 15 minutes. The director only got like 4 weeks of post production to cut the movie, do volume mixing, and effects so some stuff does feel off. It was supposed to be like an hour longer which is why the ending is so bad and I think he found an unedited copy on a VHS tape in 2012 so I'm waiting to see if anything comes of it.
It is definitely worth checking out since it is one-of-a-kind.
