Have you ever wondered whether TF2 competitive could be a bit more... accessible? Flexible?
Introducing the OverPowered League, an evolving competitive project aimed at all levels and kinds of players!
How exactly is this newfangled league any different from your normal competitive leagues? Well, here's what exactly we're doing uniquely out of the gate:
Flexible Match Scheduling - no week-by-week set schedule; just pick who, when, which maps, and go
Rating System - be measured by how you're performing against other teams, not by what your win/loss record is
League-Provisioned Servers - when it's time for a match, the league automatically sets up a server just for you with everything needed
Fresh New Postseason Take - play against the teams that are really similar to you, not just similar in rank, for your shot at the championship
And that won't be all, we have much more we dream of and plan on doing!
We'm hoping to launch very, very soon (read: within a week or so), and we need you to discuss and figure out what you want this league to become.
Interested? Come visit the OverPowered League and let us know what you think!
Also, we're in need of admins, so if you have experience with competitive and would like to help out, please contact thesupremecommander. we also would like to expand our server options, so if you'd like to help us, please contact thesupremecommander as well.
Since we're still trying to get this off the ground, any feedback and advertising will be greatly appreciated!

Is the idea to fill the scrim search role with a bit of post season fun? Like can a team play any number of matches per week on this system?
Also are you limiting yourselves to highlander or 6v6 exclusively?

Sounds kind of like what Alienware Arena did for Dota 2. You can challenge teams you want, so if your team wants to play against 8 teams a week or 1 team a week it's all good?
And since it's based off of rating if you keep winning you will be up there at the top.
Sounds interesting!

Sounds more like a ladder than a league? Would be cool IMO.

The idea is to have a serious comp setting for players who normally cannot play comp because they can't make the weekly matches (either due to work or other issues). But it can be used like you are asking too! I'm not sure about the number of matches, but I believe there is a set limit. thesupremecommander would have to answer that question in more detail though, sorry about that.
It'll be both highlander and 6v6.

Yep, you can challenge teams whenever you want! You can even play all your matches on one day of the month if you wanted to.

I would absolutely love a ladder system. Just need enough people playing to actually make the ranking mean anything.
Edit: Also, when I try to sign-in/register it opens a new tab (http://comp.ovrpwrd.net/user/login) that's titled OpenId transaction in progress.

Try Ctrl + F5 while you're in the browser. That'll force a cache refresh.

When do you estimate this will get off the ground? And a beta league will get going. I really like the idea of a ladder system.

The "login" button links to ovrpwrd.net (whatever that is). Not Steam.
EDIT: I am dumb. That is the URL of the league. In that case, the button redirects to a page that I assume is still under construction.

We're aiming at about 2 weeks or so from now, hopefully.

Hmm, could you post a picture of the issue? We are doing some moving around on the site, so you might have caught us when that page was under construction haha. Sorry about that, we're still working on the site.

Finally a TF2 ladder league. About time.

Is this designed for new players or for all? How big of a gap will there be between ratings?

This will be designed for players of all backgrounds, although we are primarily targeting those who have always wanted to be in comp, but haven't been able to because of time issues. We're not sure how big of a gap there will be, that's a good question. Hopefully it'll be generally close, but we'll have to see how it goes.
