This match is a good example of the problem with leftovers
Odds were nearly 50:50, but all 4 keys bet by Soad seem to be leftover. That means the people betting on Imaginary Gaming only got around a quarter of the expected profit.
I think Cherry is working on this though.

Yes I am, I already got a new way to store items data done I only need to implement it for a bot.
This way I'll have better track of the items and could use leftovers for balancing other bets!

Would love to see all the UGC hl platinum matches up on the site, especially now that playoffs are starting. As well as open finals which is soon.
As long as the games are close and streamed I'll be adding Plat matches :)

Why restrict matches to ones that you think will be close? That seems a bit silly to me. More matches means more options and more attraction for both tf2 and your site.

If it's a really obviously stacked game 90% of the bet amount is on one team. When that team win, the people who bet on them get nothing back because it's impossible to divide the other 10% among so many people. You're then left with a 10% that you don't know where to put it.
The solution isn't to limit games though imo - it's to make people realise that betting your life savings on a game which already has a 80/20 split is not going to net you jack shit. And in the rare occasion there's an upset (not even that rare), you lose everything. It's more about people understanding how the betting system works than anything you need to do to police it imo.

Is it possible to remove an item you bet? I want to replace 1 item with a higher value one, but I can't find a way to remove items, just add them. I may be dumb and just missed the box but I went through several pages and didn't see anything.
Shit's getting serious :D http://i.imgur.com/QqAhwQy.png
Cherry, are you able to make your bots trade with the scrap.tf bots?
On scrap.tf you can trade a key for 19.44 refined, which is a fair price. You would then have a more precise currency available for balancing the bets, whenever you had keys you needed to divide up.

I have something similar in mind (yet much easier). I've already done like 80% of it in the past 3 days, should be done tomorrow evening. It should balance payouts better without a need to trade with external services. I might only sell earbuds manually since they are relatively high value, but there is no need for keys really (unless future proves that I'm wrong ;)).
Also I would be surprised if they were allowing botting their service considering how they are always out of stock on keys.

CHERRYtermoi can obviously understand not being allowed to bet on the team you are playing against but how come you cant bet on your own team to win, isnt it just like more incentive for you to try your best? It's league specific, I only disallow you to bet on the opposing team, however ESEA and ozfortress don't want you to bet on any outcome of your match.
UGC, ETF2L and AsiaFortress don't have any rules about it I'm aware of.
This may be temporary. We haven't had the chance to fully discuss this rule internally so I erred on the side of caution, but we may loosen the rule after a proper discussion. No promises though.

I'll probably do it site wide for the [R]eason Gentleman Jon posted earlier
GentlemanJontermoi can obviously understand not being allowed to bet on the team you are playing against but how come you cant bet on your own team to win, isnt it just like more incentive for you to try your best? There are a lot of reasons not to allow it but it boils down to the fact that it will change your behaviour. If a bet is placed in a spread situation, let's say win by a certain amount, it could lead to the team behaving differently than they would have otherwise and that means the betting market as well as the playing field is distorted.
While you might still be playing to win, you also might not do things that you would otherwise do, such as allow a merc or go slow for a couple of rounds trying out some different strats when well ahead. These things matter to other users of the site, and their judgements will have to change based on whether you have bet or not.
If the available range of bets becomes wider, betting on certain events or actions, then players would obviously fix that in their own favour once again altering the course of the game and changing the playing field for other punters, which undermines the service and starts to complicate the policing - which bets can players make and which can't they. The blanket ban simplifies things and theoretically ensures the game's integrity.

thats reasonable under the circumstances that there is betting on certain events/actions, but at this point that isn't the case and therefore i dont see why you shouldnt be able to bet on your own team

I mean spread is an extremely common thing with betting and it's already implemented, the only reason I'm not using it is because I didn't explain it very good on the website. And those rules have to be site wide no matter what kind of a game that is.

Another fairly simple example that's relevant now is that it motivates you to spread disinformation about your team, making them appear weaker than they are and encouraging bets on the other team only to turn up with your full lineup and crush them easily. That's nothing short of simply ripping people off.
It also places you in a position of suspicion if there is genuine uncertainty about player's availability or other external factor. It's not hard to think of these downsides if you can take your mind off the item windfall for a moment.

Odd, but the good thing is that your bet is only once in the database so it's purely cosmetical and you won't be receiving two payouts :)
I'll look into it later, thanks for the report!
