What normally happens is both teams will win the map on their local server to make it 1-1 and then the server for the deciding game is chosen by a coinflip or smth of that sort.

Just give people a choice of what they want to watch - Though organisation/communication could be better.
The 100-200 or so viewers the shomwatch for HL will bring in could have gone to the 6's one and a portion of the viewers for the 6's showmatch (which I think will peak around 1000) could have helped the Highlander. Not really helping eachother.
First thing the organisers should have done was make sure it didn't clash with anything, considering all they need to do is log into Slack or message eachother on Steam, it's really poor, especially since the HL one had been announced before hand, to me is shows they either didn't care or are neglectful.
Good luck to both teams, if my boy Mabbla is still on Ascent, we need to get out the donation jar and bring him to i55, teach him to drink like a man.

This is literally the only day this showmatch can be held.

EU to win on EU server and NA to win on NA server.
As per usual.
As per usual.
Anyone who is un-hype about this because of ping and server locations is missing the point entirely. The goal of a showmatch is to help raise awareness for the event itself, and to see how the two teams stack up against each other. Who wins and who loses a showmatch isn't nearly as important as actually seeing the two teams actually play each other!
So get hype, because i55 is coming, and tomorrow we get a preview of what's to come!

Does the 5% cut only apply to metal / keys / buds? I'd donate items on scrap.tf but they only accept keys and buds

His point still stands though. Whichever team plays the deciding map on their server will more than likely win. From a betting perspective not knowing which server is going to be used for the 3rd map amost makes it just a bet for whether it's going to be played on an american or european server.
Not much you can do about it and it is necessary for getting more viewers and attention to the cast/fundraiser so it is what it is.

Can they not play the 3rd map on an Icelandic server? Or Canada or something?
pissheadCan they not play the 3rd map on an Icelandic server? Or Canada or something?
AFAIK Icelandic servers wouldn't actually improve pings overall (I was wrong before sorry), while a Canadian server wouldn't really make a difference. :/

When we played on elevate against euro teams for showmatches we noticed that even on New York servers, some EU people would ping better than our westcoast players so playing on any EU server would be like playing 6v4 at best.
just to ruin sideshow's insider knowledge: its gonna be 2 maps on NY servers and 1 on a euro server

But it'd fuck them up for both.
My vote goes to Greenland!

But Stockholm is pretty far from the East Coast too.

We haven't fully decided yet, but that's a strong possibility - we'll release the final information BEFORE the match begins so that it's not random saloon betting though. As much as I'd like to farm all those tasty skins for myself.
