The skulls wont show up on my scoreboard

The skulls on my scoreboard won't show up.
Ive tried verifying my game cache
,reinstalling everything but the skulls don't show even when using stock hud.
This happened after the gunmetal update.
I'm using ahud,amd driver,windows 10

valve removed it after the update, no way of getting it back afaik :(

Are they just another way to show who is dead? Darkened names stand out a lot better IMO, never even noticed these skulls.
