hey, so im a relativly "new" player, having only joined in around 2020-2021 but do have 550 hours in the game and ( at least i think i do) have a basic to good understanding of the classes and how to use them. never played anything other than casual and community servers before so i have little idea on the workings of 6v6. i dont know any people irl who play tf2 enough to form a rough team ( if thats even how you do it, i literally know nothing, the idea of 6v6 just seems fun to me).
regarding class, ive played a decent amount on all of the clases except spy, but the only one i think im ok at is soldier but playing scout properly seems like it would be fun to learn.
any advice and a runthrough of how 6v6 works and how to get into it would be very much appreciated.
thanks in advance.

tf2cc runs pugs for new players, newbie cups where you are assigned a team and a coach and get to play with and against other new players as well as a ton of other resources for getting into 6s. There is a ton of great stuff there, join the discord it is exactly what you're looking for.

newbie.tf also runs mixes every friday night where you can play some pick up games under the supervision of an experienced coach.

edit: oh you're EU. I think tf2cc is the only one of these two that has EU stuff going on.

ETF2L will be having a fresh meat cup middle of next year, probably worth trying to find a team for that. It's a 6s cup that lasts a bit over a month and it's aimed at getting new people into 6s.

Other than that the new player experience in EU is kinda rough. Best bet is to watch some educational youtube content on TF2 comp and pick a class to learn, then play a bunch of TF2Center lobbies on that class and use the ETF2L website to find an Open team. Next main ETF2L season is a few weeks away.

As a new player, people will get upset with you at some point about your performance. If you ever feel like someone is being a dick to you, explain that you're new and ask them questions. Usually the people raging at you are just upset that there is a factor they have no control over that is causing them to lose the game so by asking them for help it lets them feel like they have some control over how things are going. Competitive tf2 is a very social experience, so learning how to deal with your own emotions and toxic players is very important.

Don't be afraid to add the people you play pick up games to your steam friends list. comp tf2 is all about knowing people and forming connections. Make sure to use PUGs as an opportunity to show that you're a fun guy to be around.
