nigga bein drunk doesnt justify rape
-fish-here's a very good article about the whole situation if you want to read - https://www.allthink.com/1329672
i'd say the most important points are these:
- since Turner was almost as intoxicated as the girl was, this is more about negligence than intent, thus adding to a shorter sentence
- if anything, money was the factor in deciding his short sentence, not him being male or white, but this should hopefully be obvious. (to those blaming this on sexism, the officer who recommended the sentence time was a woman)
- whatever your opinion on this is, please for the love of all things holy do not become an affiliate of mob justice
I dismissed this story until now because none of the other news outlets seemed to give enough details and just seemed to be using it as a means of proving rape culture or something. After reading this I'm kind of thinking the sentence is a very appropriate length.
edit: btw this is what all reporting should look like, it gives you the facts and steers as far away from bias and a agenda as possible

I don't know if you read the article, but it suggests that there may have been consent before she passed out and he was too drunk to notice.
And in the pre-sentencing interview with the victim she said that she did not want him to go to prison (perhaps because it was consensual imo). She could have changed her mind after ward because of pressure from various sources for example: she has a boyfriend it being rape means she didn't cheat, political pressure from feminists and what not, she was getting fucked by a dude outside where people could see her maybe she just doesn't want to be seen as a slut or some shit.

6 months is going to lead to a sore anus for him in jail, so at least theres that

truly the mark of how civilized our society is it how we let prison rape be the true justice we all seek
what the guy did was probably bad, but the way the media, reddit, and the populace at large has handled it is infinitely worse and more scary.

Just being accused of rape can ruin your fucking life at this point. A crime that is so difficult to prove sometimes such as this case I don't think being repeatedly raped and possible killed in prison is really a reasonable punishment to bestow a upon a man.

I find it funny how USA swimming hands out better justice than the US justice system, I mean 6 months of jail is essentially fuck all for a rapist, but being banned for life from a sport you've been working towards for your entire life, that's justice

Nub_Danishshe said that she did not want him to go to prison
no she didnt.
In her impact statement, the victim says that her statements were oversimplified in the probation report; she acknowledges telling the officer that she did not want Turner to "rot in prison" or to feel that his life is over, but insists she did not mean to suggest that he should only get a light jail sentence.

you lost all credibility in that OP.
guy raped a girl, i read multiple times he ran once confronted by the two dudes cycling past. if they were both conscious and it was consensual i'm assuming there would've been some gross embarrassment from both parties, probably checking that the two were okay then leaving. instead he chose to run, the implication being that he knew he was doing something wrong yet continued.
intent yeah, negligence, yeah. he was negligent when she passed out and he didn't do shit, intent started when he continued. assuming the article is correct and she passed out while they were having sex then the right thing to do would've been to stop, see if she was okay, possibly call an ambulance/her friends etc? idc how drunk you are.

yttriumNub_Danishshe said that she did not want him to go to prisonno she didnt. In her impact statement, the victim says that her statements were oversimplified in the probation report; she acknowledges telling the officer that she did not want Turner to "rot in prison" or to feel that his life is over, but insists she did not mean to suggest that he should only get a light jail sentence.
There are some disputed facts -- for instance, whether the victim told the probation officer during a pre-sentencing interview that she did not want Turner to go to prison. In her impact statement, the victim says that her statements were oversimplified in the probation report; she acknowledges telling the officer that she did not want Turner to "rot in prison" or to feel that his life is over, but insists she did not mean to suggest that he should only get a light jail sentence. Some have speculated that the victim backpedaled from her earlier plea for leniency due to political pressure -- perhaps from Dauber, the feminist law professor who played a key role in igniting the outrage over the sentence, and who is apparently a friend of the victim's family. But it is equally possible (and the impact statement hints at this) that she changed her mind because she felt that Turner had failed to take responsibility for his actions.

also her impact statement originated on buzzfeed a very trustworthy and unbiased news outlet without a agenda she couldn't possible have given the original statement of "i don't want him to go to prison" can changed her mind!?

Reading her impact story on buzzfeed there's alot of shit that doesn't add up with everything else of I've read on this.
-"I had dried blood and bandages on the backs of my hands and elbow."
This and repeated mentions of bruises, cuts, etc it doesn't add up with the other articles. If she was so bruised and cut why didn't any news outlets mention it, going yeah shes beat up and shit there's no question about it, it is full on rape.
(Some news outlets have explained away the light sentencing as the victim supposedly said in a interview that she didn't want him to go to prison. The other factor being that it could have been consensual and she had passed out, with her being as beaten up as she says I don't think that their would have been any question of whether or not it was rape.)
-"On that morning, all that I was told was that I had been found behind a dumpster, potentially penetrated by a stranger, and that I should get retested for HIV because results don’t always show up immediately."
Again this doesn't add up with the story. She wasn't found behind a dumpster unconscious two men saw him on top of her and chased him down. And it wasn't a potentially people saw him on top of her they examined her, why would they say potentially penetrated when they have all this evidence showing yes you got raped.
