Hi I am DunderBro and I am just starting to get into to comptf2, I started watching some tf2 youtube games like the HL all star game and the celebrity mashup games and I though hey this is so fun, I was at SPUF and chilling and I think someone mentioning natf2 and later on when tf.tv started I had basic 6s knowledge and basic current invite scene knowledge, watched a lot of stream vods etc.
But just 'cause I knew what to do thanks to watching invite plays didn't equal me being able to do it.
I wanna get better at tf2, should I review demos even though I suck? play MGE? play more lobby? or try playing pugs?
(also if someone wanna mentor me go ahead!)

First off you NEED to get in on the newly resurrected It's a pug group that has 1 coach per team that mentors and directs the game, it should be very useful for you.
**Next up would be #tf2mix on gamesurge. It's an IRC channel that does PUGs but the cool thing is if you don't get picked for the pug the next game you are guaranteed to play! Just click the "" located on the top of this page and switch to the #tf2mix tab by double clicking on it. Also if you join the you will get notified when pugs are getting filled up.
Just make sure you are
1. making friends
2. playing the game DM/MGE/Mixes/PUGs/
The best way to learn TF2 is to be on a team even if it is full of complete noobs. UGC has a free 6s league that is great for teams like this. Try and play in mixes make friends and make a low team!
I cant stress enough how important it is to make connections when you are playing, that is the best way to dive into the scene.
**If you dont know how to use the #tf2mix bot just message an admin and ask them!
-the people with "@" next to their name are admins
-to messege them just click on their name and then click "query"
edit:
I just realized this was in the mentoring forum.. If you happen to play pocket I wouldn't mind giving a few pointers.
well I may have exagerated, I am not that worthless, I backup for a team at the moment since I was signing up too late, also is the mixthing in pug thing for americans only?
thanks

People argue both ways about MGE and SOAP DM, but I've found that as long as you focus on just improving your aim and movement, doing both of those things can help your game. If you're on soldier, jump maps are never a bad idea, and otherwise just try to play as much 6s as you can.

As far as I know you are welcome to play in both groups if you are not in North America. Just remember that the servers will be located in NA so if you can handle high ping go for it. I believe Europe has its own newbie mix group so you can also check that out.
