I'm guilty of actually liking the default HUD. Will it be pooped out all over the screens?
I run 6 monitors on my system. Even if I run TF2 at 5760x1080@120, my fps are steady at 120 without any type of FPS config. Granted that's one game, and newer/more gpu intensive games probably won't yield 120 fps at that resolution. It's still worthwhile to get 120hz monitors because even at 60 fps, the feel is much nicer than a 60hz (and you don't get eye strain at anywhere near the same rate).
Also, oov, 120hz monitors for non-gaming are still better than 60hz for eye strain. Most of you would say that the IPS panels have better colors, but that doesn't affect me much.

Alright. Going to get those 120s then. Thx for convincing me.
TaggerungI'm confused about this lightboost stuff
Is this monitor worth getting with an ATI card?
Yeah

hookyTagg, take a look at this: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/6897-whos-running-asus-vg248qe-144hz#post-104192
Lightboost is supposed to only be used in 3D mode, but it was able to be hacked to be allowed to run all the time, but only on Nvidia cards. Now, however, you can use an AMD/ATI card, but you still need an Nvidia to turn on Lightboost. Honestly, I'm sold at this point, especially since I know personally what high refresh rates are like. Going to buy one of these in the next few days.
Also of note: Lightboost apparently only works with 120 Hz, not 144 Hz. I wouldn't think it matters much anyway.
Edit: I do have an AMD card by the way. I also should have a 9600 GT somewhere around I can use to turn Lightboost on.
I followed the instructions in this link closely and saw significant performance loss, even in windows. I don't know what the issue was, but be sure you know how to undo what you're doing if you try this.

the301stspartanWhy buy three? 120 hz monitors are generally lower picture quality than something like an IPS. There's no real point in having a 120 hz panel unless it's for gaming use.
I don't see why a 120hz should be of lower imagie quality thatn a 60hz, except of course if it is equally priced, which none I found is.
I want 3 because I am going to use them together for playing as well as other purposes. And to have my games neatly going over all 3 monitors, I want them to be identical. I also heard that nvidia surround is picky about monitors so I opt for them all to be equal. Especially considering that two of the three would be of a different hz rate than the center one. I don't think that would work out well.
The panel technology for high response displays is different than that for high image quality displays. The difference in image quality on my 120hz and my Ultrasharp are massive. The viewangles are also generally awful, I can't lean back and watch a show on my 120hz without the image being dark as fuck for example. I would suggest one 120hz and two Ultrasharps if you want a three monitor setup.

I don't know about that. View angle is always a really weird thing to complain about for me. I have all my monitors adjusted to my angle so I always look straight at them. If needed I can rotate them slightly, even more so once I got them all wall-mounted. Right now I would have to move around my table to have a significant color shift on the monitors. And I still believe that running one game on monitors with different refresh rates is a bad idea. What I might do is throw away all my monitors and replace them by my old 15" CRT use three 120s for gaming and other purposes and another maybe 16:10 one for watching movies and stuff where I change position a lot and need all that viewing angle. I also do editing, photoshop, 3d and such so I might just use the 4th one for that.

You should get an Overlord 27" 1440p 120Hz IPS monitor ($555) for your editing/photoshop/movies :p.
I think you can use the shopping cart to estimate shipping cost. I am still waiting on mine (the next batch of monitors with the new bezel is supposed to be arriving mid-May).

Wtf am I looking at? Did some nerd lock himself in his basement where he assembles monitors which he sells on his website?

I just noticed Newegg dropped the price down by $10 more, so it's a closer match to the B&H price.

Heh, there's no argument from me that the branding and name is silly and immature.
Did you ever hear about the Catleap 120Hz IPS panels that were really popular? Well these are of the same vein - Korean sourced LG panels of A grade quality. These are the same panels that Apple uses in their ~$1k Apple Cinema Displays (but Apple takes only A+ grade). So other companies buy up the A grade panels. If I recall one of the guys who made 120Hz.net and the Catleaps really popular decided to go off on his own and start Overlord, so that we (Americans) could have an American source for these high quality and inexpensive Korean panels w/ warranty (the alternative was buying from Korean sellers on Ebay who also didn't offer warranty).
So yeah, if you want the best IPS panel then Overlord is where you want to look.

Well I'm German so all this is kind of out of question for me. I think for that price+shipping I can buy monitors of similar quality off Amazon right away. However I'm not even concerned about spending extra money on a 178° monitor because if I go with my 3 120s + 1 possibly huge HQ monitor, that huge one will be positioned so that I am always looking at it anyway when shopping or editing. Also that one wouldn't even necessarily have to be 120hz.
Lol, after buying the grafics card I started searching around for good 120+hz monitors. I bought what I fond to be the best one, came back here and realized it was the one this thread talks about.
