Looking to build a new PC, mainly curious what the best monitors are these days, I have a 240hz viewsonic (xg270) from a few years ago that I like but I imagine the tech has gotten better since then.

Not looking to totally max out specs wise probably like 5070 and decent enough CPU, can figure that stuff out myself tho mainly wanna hear what ppls thoughts on monitors are, for playing tf2 mainly and some elden but don’t care about 1080p+ just want good refresh rate, no ghosting, etc.

Do you have a budget?

I'm not really a tech geek when it comes to monitors, but apparently people hype up OLED for the best bang for your buck for response times and image quality.

Unfortunately, from the 240hz OLED I've found, it come at a STEEP price (500+$). Had to buy an this one unfortunately. Its works alright, but I could of bought something better if I saved up.

Going off-track; from what I've seen online, people suggesting OLED include Alienware, Asus, Samsung, and LG. Not familiar with any other brands.

Alternatively, zowie has a good selection that isn't OLED. Unfortunately, their 240hz monitors (at least on their website) have been "discontinued?" which also includes its 360hz monitors. But have 280hz and 400hz monitor weirdly? Not familiar if third party sites sell it though. the price is still pretty steep though...

Even though my current PC (super old) cannot hit 480fps even in TF2, there is a massive difference between my old benq 144hz and this 480hz OLED. I wouldn't buy anything that's not an OLED, cause even at the same hz as the TN, the OLED is much clearer.

I was initially pulling back because all the OLEDS are 27 inches, but it's not a big difference at all vs 24.

I don't think you NEED to buy this 480hz shit either, because I think even the cheaper OLEDS that are 240/360 are better than all other panel types with the addition of 1440p

The TN models that are faster than the OLED have ghosting, so I don't think there's a point in it. No ghosting on OLED
