Since steampipe I failed to change anything about my crosshair except the color via chris' config crosshairswitcher and the shape using the tf2 menu.
I would like to change my crosshair a little. What I am thinking of is a tiny dot in the middle with (maybe slightly larger than usual) konr wings around it. Ideally retaining the ability to change the color or have it in some weird rainbow color that always stands out. I am using PVHud.
Is this possible?

If you want a hud crosshair for the dot, you would have to use an achievement/netgraph crosshair I personally have no idea how to make those a thing but I believe dashner may know how to get those to work
edit: for the whole rainbow thing that would have to have multiple fonts taking up sections of the konr wings

Probably couldn't make the konr wings rainbow color but you can edit the size of the tiny dot in the crosshair switcher.

Not true actually, you can use multiple HUD crosshairs at once.

I followed the instructions in that thread but since steampipe it does not work for me. I also found another thread that explained how to do it after steampipe, but it didn't work for me as well. I replaced and edited the mentioned files but it had no effect in game.

Also, quick question: Why do I have to mess with ttf files and all that stuff, why can't the crosshair just be a .png that's part of my hud?

As far as colors go i think the way stabby has it is the best way. Depending on which movement key you press the color changes ( switches between green, magenta or something like that and a light blue ) you can change the colors to whatever you want by changing the rgb code.
Stabbys Script (the first one) : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1591457
RGB colors (in case you have no idea what that is^^ : http://www.rapidtables.com/web/color/RGB_Color.htm

I think that would bug the shit out of me. But I'll play around with these color settings when I have the crosshair itelf working. But right now I have no idea how.

Why do you keep talking about Steampipe, don't you have/edit your HUD files in the right folder?

the301stspartanAlso, quick question: Why do I have to mess with ttf files and all that stuff, why can't the crosshair just be a .png that's part of my hud?
Because HUD crosshairs are actually letters from a custom font that are manually centered and not pictures. That means you can change the size of a crosshair by changing the font size.
My advice: Use broeselhud, it has the wings and other HUD crosshairs included. This way you don't need to import crosshairs into your HUD (you don't seem to be able to do that anyway).

I have it all set up correctly, I'm just saying that when I try to "install" those konr wings nothing happens. And I modified stuff before steampipe so I assumed that since steampipe it's not working.
I do not want to change my hud. PV gives me just what I need and if I switched now I would need to modify an entire hud to my likings and not just the crosshair.
As for the font question, I understand that but what prevents me from disabling all "HUD crosshairs" and the default one and then have a n image with the crosshair layed over everything? That way rainbow coloring would be no problem.

Similar question. How do I use a + custom crosshair but with the normal hud? Thanks.

spartan: if your hud has functioned since steampipe it is nothing to do with steampipe. In other words, if your hud has worked since the update then you must be making a mistake installing the crosshair. make sure to follow instructions in that thread to the letter and check stupid stuff like enabled and visible 0 and x and y pos first (it's possible it's visible but off your screen, same with too small to see, both have happened to me before but very rarely.)
I honestly have no idea what the heck you're talking about with your whole image question but afaik i believe you can now add textures and (images?) to the game as custom elements (?), discussed in this post in the hudas iscariote thread: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/8719-hud-hudas-iscariote-first-beta-release/4#post-131979
To do that with an image you'd need to find an image of konr wings alone or edit one out in photoshop yourself then somehow pack that into vmt/vpk (I'm confident there are conversion softwares but i have no clue about vpks and what can be packed into them/ if images can be added to huds indiscriminately now). I'd be doubtful that any image can be used in a hud now because I'm pretty sure there would have been more huds or custom crosshairs utilizing this to greater effect (transparency etc.). Youd also of course need to make your crosshair rainbow. All of this is stuff you'd need to do essentially on your own, it's hard for someone to help you because there's a lot of shit you can screw up. Or, you could live with white like the rest of us.

Tbh, I am much more confident in my shopping skills to make myself a rainbow konr wing vpk than to edit the config files of my hud because I don't know jack shit about those. I will try following the steps in that thread again, and if that doesn't work I will try if I can get it working as an image. If I actually manage to do it, I will post it for people to use.

If you make the textures I'll help you put it in your HUD. Just add me on steam whenever.
