tranceI've done about 2 months of research for earphones & headphones, and the general consensus is that the best quality for money earphones you can buy are the Vsonic VC02 for 40$. It might be a little bit above your budget, but I would probably suggest them. If you're not willing to dish out 10$ then the aforementioned Brainwave M2/Visang R03 are probably your best bet. You should definitely check out joker's insane list of IEM reviews that were linked. Good luck.

LordOfThePingEvery pair of earbuds that I buy dies on me <6 months. One ear gets a little quieter for 2-3 weeks, then dies completely. This has happened to multiple Sennheiser products as well as competing brands that I can't think of right now.
Aside from sending me to some nerd dungeon forum with a 15 page "Sticky: EARBUD FAQ" thread, does anyone have suggestions/advice for what's going on here?
There are a few things to check. It's possible that the source you use (where you plug in the earbuds) doesn't have consistent output. Is it always the left channel that dies first? The right? Or, is it random? If it's always one, the problem is most likely your source device, or you just instinctively don't handle that side as carefully as the other.
It could also be that your ears are dirty. Earbuds need to be cleaned. They could be getting clogged.
