Discussion of TF2 Streams on Twitch

I think Strongsuit makes an important point. We have so many great writers in the community, could we put together a large document as a collaborative effort and send it as a letter to various organizations looking for sponsorship. It would have to include our goals, reasons why we should be sponsored, and a strong showing of a unified community supporting the game. Obviously some of this work would fall on the shoulders of a select few committed and organized writers, but we could also include testimonials and statements from everyone who posts one, almost like a petition. With any luck, somebody would pick us up, although the worst thing any organization can do is simply turn us down.

The new logo with some black blur behind it (so it stands out on Twitch's white background).

I traced the letters (by hand) to put an outline in case you like that too.

Please keep in mind that these are awful and enigma should make real ones.

What you're basically asking is for the community, a collection of people who have a desire for a specific thing (in this case TF2), to make a business proposal. What you're missing in this situation is that a community is not a business and cannot function as one, thus by asking an organization for this sponsorship and/or money they're going to respond 'to who?' Are you going to have them mail it to Valve or something? I don't care how well certain people within the community could write the idea in itself is flawed.

Have eXtv / TF.TV / Vanilla.TV / BlackOutGamingTV 'hire' one of these writers and do that sort of job for them. Have them write up that business plan as they're an actual business who could sort of pretend that there would be a ROI on any sort of funding put forth. Although I'm pretty sure that most of those organizations have already tried all that they can to work on getting certain sponsors, seeing how much this community talks about 'needing money.' Unless you're going to approach an organization that's setup to run tournaments in itself and host the tournament ect., I don't see where you're going with this.

I agree with #33, that it's difficult to go the money route. That's why I'm asking people to try to go for a manpower route. What I'm asking is, is there any way for us to increase stream numbers for individual streams without growing the pie? Does our community have to get bigger for people to start watching other streams? What kind of content do we think appeals to the majority of this community?

This website gets a ton of page visits and most people aren't watching the streams so I'm curious to see what would get them to do so. There's a lot of eager streamers putting themselves out there on the side bar, and there has to be something that streamers can do to garner more views.

What about the chat box idea? It would be a good way for people to advertise what they're streaming a little, instead of making a post. Or tell everyone else some crazy thing that just happened in another stream?

There is only so much you can fit in the title of your stream.

The problem with #36 is that would be sacrificing the awesome load times of tftv. Which would be rather unfortunate.

I have actually had some conversations with private companies about resources they could provide for the TF2 community. The unfortunate thing is, the companies that are small enough to benefit from providing said resources are too small to fund (or run) a league. Some of these talks are ongoing, however.

On the other hand, I'm some combination of not well known and not well liked enough to feel like I truly speak for the community. I'm also incredibly busy with my actual professional obligations.
