This is implying the split would be a long term problem.
And a split isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's no reason in this scenario to look at the negatives of something otherwise positive, which in this case is giving players another, potentially better (in the future) option.
any split in a community that's playing the same game/game mode/ruleset is a bad thing. we cannot say "here's esea(or cevo, whatever), it has 120 teams" instead it's "ok here's esea, they have 70 teams, this ugc league has 30, and cevo has 20."
we aren't fucking car shopping, we don't need options, we're trying to keep a game alive. we need unity and strong leaders making sure players wants/needs are taken care of.
also, please see my post about being able to cheat your dick off in cevo and having no lan to worry about.
We had ~3 active leagues years ago with a significantly smaller player base and to my knowledge, I don't remember that split being a concern to the community/game. Wouldn't you figure having 3 now with a significantly larger player base wouldn't be a problem?

so you're arguing that having the same game/game mode/ruleset played in 3 leagues is more beneficial than having all of those teams in the same league. ok.

You have to also consider that we would now have competition between leagues. This would force them to listen to the community about complaints or improvements otherwise they risk losing their customers.

UGC is shitty because no one takes it seriously. No one takes it seriously because everyone who wants to take the game seriously is in ESEA. Any time anyone suggest taking not-ESEA seriously everyone says no because no one will take it seriously,
The only reason competition exists is because people try hard to win. If ESEA folded tomorrow, everyone who wanted to play the game seriously and could stomach no LAN wouldn't suddenly stop playing because there's nothing to play for. ESEA is gonna continue to be the premiere tf2 league until the game dies or they drop support because the best players get the best incentives in it, and there's a strong player base to support a circulation into invite. If all of Main and IM decided to say fuck it and go to CEVO, ESEA would die. I don't know why everyone who is apparently so upset about ESEA is continuing to dick ride invite players though, this is baffling. The invite players literally do not matter here, and for a low league player, it would be better if they quit since the odds of you actually winning go up, while you don't lose anything since you never scrimmed invite teams to begin with.
So thanks to everyone else we all have to reinstall the botnet next season until we get mad and everyone gets banned again

That's basically how it was back then, though. I understand where you're coming from, but if it worked with a smaller player base, then it would only make sense that it would work for a larger player base.
