Man its been a long time since I had a problem with my PC so I'm a bit rusty.
The last couple of days have shown me I now have semi-random shutdowns. The PC will simply turn off dead, no error message or anything, just from using it to a black screen. Within two seconds, the PC boots up again and I have no issues and can boot normally.
So far, every time this has happened I've been doing something graphic intensive (games, usually) with some kind of flash going on in the background (music from youtube). Using Aida64, I once in a blue moon get a quick warning that my 5v rail on my power supply (Corsair 650W) has dropped much below the 5V limit, sometimes desplaying to me that it dropped to 0.02 or something along those lines. However, I've seen that error pop up once or twice before months ago with no issue, so I thought it was a glitch. However, now I'm suspecting my PSU may finally be going back after years of faithful service. Any ideas?
Specs:
Intel i5 3570k
Asus p8z77-V
GTX 570
Corsair 650W
two disk based hard drives
EDIT: Should be noted I've had this PC as-is for a good 2+ years and have never had an issue until the last couple of days.

double check bios settings, maybe tweak your overclock? disable stuff like wake on lan if it's on, disable sleep/c states.

Fairly sure I have those disabled already, and my overclock doesn't apply when I boot into ubuntu, and it happens in both Windows and Linux.

It is most likely the PSU going bad :(

Anyone have any power supply suggestions?

Cheap and decent quality if you don't plan on upgrading to more power hungry components -> CX430

XFX PSUs are excellent, they're made by seasonic

Looks like the CX430 Setsul mentioned is possible to get for like 18 bucks: http://slickdeals.net/f/6615850-corsair-cx430-v2-3-430w-80-bronze-power-supply-17-99-ac-ar-fs-with-shoprunner-newegg
antec neo eco 620W (apparently made by seasonic) for 41 bucks after rebate.

Damn not bad deals...I may get the 620w myself for a future build.
Definitely power supply issue. I had the same thing a few months back.

although its likely to be a power supply issue, check if ur cpu fan is running. awhile back the port for mine died so my pc would turn off when my cpu got too hot.

XFX PSUs are good but generally lower quality, apparently they are cheaper because they are rejects. Basically if it doesn't meet Seasonic's standard (solder quality, voltage regulation, ripple supression, whatever) it's being sold a bit cheaper as XFX unit.

Yeah, the CX430 is a decent CWT unit and pretty much unbeatable at that price.
40$ for a >600W seasonic rebrand? Get that thing fast!

XFX Proseries PSUs are rebadges, not OEM units, but yeah, thats true for the others, even though I would take a seasonic OEM unit over a CWT unit any day.

Idk, rebadges or OEM, solder quality and voltage regulation is definitely worse from what I've seen.
Seasonic Platinum 1000W
XFX Pro Series 1000W Black Edition
Btw I'm actually using that Seasonic one right now. Ripple suppression isn't really impressive (due to the design) although 50mV wouldn't look bad if it weren't for the voltage regulation. 0.3% ... 0.3% average WTF. Sadly the X-1250 wasn't available 0% on both minor rails and <30mV ripple is pretty good.
If I were to buy a PSU now I'd probably go for a Superflower Leadex Gold, voltage regulation <1% or better and <15mV at 2/3 the price of a equivalent Seasonic unit.

One of my friends was having problems extremely similar:
check your shutdown temps in your bios
watch your temperatures as you do "intensive" things like playing games etc.
If you come anywhere near these shutdown temperatures then that's probably your problem.
