So, I've been getting really consistently horrid lag in TF2 ever since I started playing again in the summer. I was wondering if I could get some help with trying to fix it. I've provided a demo of me in a DM server, and the lag seen in the demo occurs regularly during play time from 8pm-1am. I've tried troubleshooting with a bunch of internet setting tweaks, but am running out of things to try. Plz help, I wanna play this game, but can't play in esea because I lag my ass off come scrim/match time.

I can also try and get a youtube video up if it's more convenient for people to view.

I went through the same hellish experience about 2-3 months ago. Let me tell you I know exactly how frustrated you are. The solution to mine ended up being my cable modem and router were dying. I'd had the modem for about 5-6 years and the router was roughly 3 years old. Long story short I bitched at my ISP and told them my modem was dropping connection and they gave me a new cable modem (comes free from most ISPs as far as I can tell). Then I invested in a new router, and presto- No more ridiculously unexplained lag.

So my advice would be to try your computer plugged directly into the cable modem if it isn't already. Doing that will help you rule out if the problem is specific to your router or not. If the direct connection from your computer to the modem still sucks, and you're sure it's nothing about your computer, then I suggest you find a way to try another cable modem.
