Hey guys, I'm planning on building a PC soon, but I'm not sure if I should get the 660ti or the 7870. I'm aware that performance wise the 660ti is better but I'm not sure if the price difference is worth it. I also plan on streaming tf2 if it helps, does it really make a difference? Help appreciated.
GPU doesn't really matter with TF2 or streaming. Both are CPU intensive programs. If you're going to spring money for something better do it on the cpu.

It won't do you any good for streaming, though. To be able to stream well without any significant performance loss, I'd recommend at least a 2500k.

Cheaper gpu, get an awesome heat sink, and overclock. You're going to get way more bang for your buck in terms of TF2 and streaming.
people say tf2 is cpu intensive but idk, i have a 3 ghz dual core processor and hooli has a 1.8 or something silly like that but he has 9800 gt and i have a geforce 210 and my computer performes much worse while streaming, not sure when he isn't streaming what his stuff is like :| streaming programs are pretty cpu intensive and so is dxtory but i'm not so sure about tf2.

tf2 is definitely way way way more cpu intensive than it is gpu intensive btw, this is common knowledge and you can check it out by looking at task manager while you're on the title screen.

i use obs with an i5 2500k and a gtx 460 and im constantly above 100fps

the fact that it takes up 20-25% of my quad core CPU, which is like literally almost a whole single core since tf2 is mostly single threaded, while on the title screen of all things, is a testament to how incredibly CPU intensive it is
