console being weird

So, I just upgraded to win8.1, copied the tf2 installation, and my console acts weirdly, sometimes when i hit backspace, it closes, o makes an abuse report, and it is generally very hard to use, does anyone know the fix?

its probably your config, put -autoexec in your launch options, or go to options>keyboard>reset to default

I know Windows has easy-to-access IMEs; if you have another language installed in the computer (Chinese/Japanese in my case), you may accidentally hit the shortcut to start typing in another language.

If you don't have other languages installed, then try checking for background programs that also use `/~ as an input key as they might be interfering.

Last resort, as always, is to re-install.

For me, when I use dead keys (ie press ' and then e for é), if I open the console with tilde and then try to type, it automatically closes again. Don't know a fix for it, but if I first open the console with tilde and then close and re-open it with escape, I can use it normally. I'm not sure if this is the problem you're having, but maybe it helps.

Edit: whoops, 51 seconds late on that, glad to hear you fixed it.
