i just got a dota 2 key but i still cant play, it says i need to sign up or something... and then it says im on a waiting list. How does this work, do i sign up and am i guaranteed to play at some point, or is it luck of the draw.

i just got a dota 2 key but i still cant play, it says i need to sign up or something... and then it says im on a waiting list. How does this work, do i sign up and am i guaranteed to play at some point, or is it luck of the draw.
If you have the key (XX-XXXXX-XXXX) then:
1. Go to Add Game in the bottom left corner
2. Enter the code
3. ???
4. Profit
If you don;t have the code then check your email.

Did you get the game through trade? If so, then check your inventory.

i did... but then i get into dota 2 and it says im in spectator only and that i need a key code, i already downloaded the game i just cant play it.

Well that means you don't own the game. The spectator thing was given to all steam accounts during the internationals.

aim i talked to ghost and he said that this is werid and that i should have a key code, i just dont know how to access it and its not seeming that obvious to me as where to find this key code
