So I just noticed that in the in-game options you can adjust the sound quality. Apparently I've always had mine set to 'low' and this made me wonder if I shouldn't have it set to 'high'. Does anyone use a setting for a specific reason? I definitely noticed a difference between the two, but I can't pinpoint exactly what, and I don't know which one would be more ideal.
theres a setting for this wow im gonna need to change it, im gonna change it to high if it isnt already at high i guess theres no negative side to having better audio quality unless it adds music and some unnecessary noises.
some people also use 7.1 surround but i don't like it

// I'd be hesitant to say that you would see a great deal of performance
// improvement from lowering the sound quality, but in my experience as a
// competitive TF2 player, lowering the sound quality makes determination of
// directionality and distance that much easier. You may see a small FPS gain
// with these settings, or you may not, either way will likely have a
// negligible effect on performance.

I used to use low quality sound, and all it did was make the hitsound rape my ears. I use a 7.1 headset, so I don't have any issues with hearing where people are coming from.
