Partners are okay to have. Good for warm ups, but try to frequent public MGE servers with good players. Duel them, take away some knowledge about their style and yours and you've won even if you got knocked out 20-5. Sparring one person isn't largely beneficial as you just learn their style that works against you.

(I think) the way to play against soldiers is just to bait out rockets and then charge them but I don't think anyone actually enjoys playing MGE like that
