think comcast has had a history of throttling connections to twitch
I've had the exact same issue with comcast. No real solution.

I would also try livestreamer first and install some sort of bandwidth monitor as well(my personal recommendation is NetLimiter)
Here's a link to livestreamer : http://livestreamer.tanuki.se/en/latest/install.html#windows-binaries
Could be on the streamer's end. What streams do you watch?

its been multiple streams, the streamer isnt the problem. i think ill try a vpn
Some streams lag for me in firefox, but work perfect in chrome. Did you rule out your browser, or does it happen everywhere?

i use chrome primarily, but it happens everywhere. i also uninstalled plugins that i dont need from chrome as well
For me this thing called Tardsplaya seems to help, despite its rather lame name. It's similar to livestreamer I guess, only with a GUI.
holy shit if you use comcast in the US and want to consume a lot of online video spend a small amount (couple of coffees a month) to purchase a good VPN.
Things shouldn't perform better with a VPN but that is the way things are with comcast as a huge regional monopoly in 'merica.

Just stay away from PIA and VyperVPN; ping spikes + Vyper's software is awful
