Can't launch anything in 4x3

Just a week ago, I've been having issues using anything in 4x3 (1024x768 to be specific). Sometimes when I launch something, it'll alt tab to my desktop once it's fully loaded up. Sometimes I can't alt tab back in as it sends me back to my desktop, sometimes it does. Even if I alt tab while in a server, sometimes I can't alt tab back in. I can't seem to find any solution, I've tried updating my drivers, but no luck. Any methods I can attempt?

I've been using 4x3 for a while, but it just randomly started to act this way recently.

Seems like a launch option issue to me. If you still have a launch option such as "-dxlevel 81" you should remove from the launch options after the first launch or it can cause trouble tabbing back in.

My launch options has always been "-full -novid -w 1024 -h 768 -freq 75"

I assume you're using a crt, is it your only monitor or is it a secondary monitor?

I'm using a LCD, and it's my only monitor.
