Does changing your resolution of your computer lower help your game's fps as well?
I've lowered my laptops res from 13686x768 to 640x480 and my fps stayed exactly the same, weird i guess.
depends if you are bottlenecked by your cpu or your gpu
If you have a bad cpu it doesn't really help; if you have a bad gpu it does help.

what if you have a good cpu and a good gpu, but valve keeps adding all this bullshit to this unoptimized game and continues to degrade it's playability? Will it still do anything?

does optimizing mean reducing frames

does optimizing mean reducing frames
I reduced my ingame res to like 10p (yes) with viewportupscale and it didn't change my performance at all. I changed my whole game's resolution to 480p and I got triple the frames.

I have a radeon hd 7670m graphics card and a i5-3210m 2.50ghz. Which one would be bottlenecking me in this case?
