So I downloaded this: http://tf2dingalings.com/sound/details/1633 and put it into custom/stuff/sound/ui/hitsound.wav The file is a wav and not .wav.wav, I re-typed all the necessary dingaling commands into console, the marker at "play sound whenever you injure an enemy" is set, but still is plays the default "ding" sound. Any idea how to fix it?
My directory uses custom/cfg/sound/ui/hitsound.wav, and works fine. That might just be the problem, but if not you'll need someone more technical

The file name you use for your hitsound folder doesn't matter. For example mine is in tf\custom\hitsound\sound\ui but it could be in tf\custom\notahitsound\sound\ui

CHERRYMaybe you are playing on sv_pure servers?
hitsound is not affected by it i think

In custom you have to name your stuff folder "my_custom_stuff"
This may be outdated, but try it anyway
custom\my_custom_stuff\sound\ui

Uhh im guessing its the file itself, if i remember right it HAS to be a 8bit, mono and 44100 sample to work in TF2
16 bit not 8 bit, but the mono and 44.1k parts are correct.
Try deleleting all the sound folders in tf and tf/custom/whatever and reinstall the hitsound file again.
What is the length of the file? I doubt your hitsound would go over the max or if there is a max length, but try shortening it.
Also make sure all your sound settings are correct. Check all the "s_" commands to see if the hitsound volume is down, or if there is a crazy delay or something.

some hitsounds don't work, if it has a (doesn't work) by the name of the hitsound in the tf2dingaling site then it broken
Alright, somehow it works now, but its extremely quiet. Like I only hear it when I shoot a rocket at the cart where 5-6 people are and I hit them with around 50 dmg each...
Random Edit:
Whenever my TF2 boots up, my graphic settings are resetted. (I don't have a chris cfg), any idea what this is?
