also look into the 'soundmax superbeam' mic, it's pretty much the opposite you want from a mic in that it picks up a lot of shit in your room instead of a narrow beam and the focus algorithm is awful but for its price (if you can find it under 10 bucks) it's amazing.

They have been discontinued and the ATH-M50x are inferior in terms of build quality iirc.
Although the ATH-M50x have been mentioned.
On Newegg the ATH-M50s are 240$ and there's absolutely no way they can compete with something like AKG K702s for 200$ (see #10).
