Teammate cannot install map

One of our players cannot, for some reason, download Viaduct pro5 and join a server running it. He'll download the map, put it in any sensible folder where you'd place maps and successfully join a server on that map. He's tried placing the file in tf -> maps, tf -> download -> maps and custom -> asdf -> maps. Regardless of where he puts it, trying to join a server on that map results in TF2 stating he is missing that map.

We've run out of ideas and have no idea what to do. pls help
