Anyone here fly fish? I'm trying to find an outfit under $200 with a solid build quality. I've looked at the Orvis encounter and Redington path but have a hard time choosing between them. In addition, should I get a fly tying kit or would it be more efficient to just buy the flies?
i have basically 0 knowledge about fly fishing but get the fly making kit man fuck buyin em premade
I would buy some "dummy" flies, so when you're ready you can not worry about messing up in more invested flies, they last as long as you take care of them, as for the outfit, sportsman, cabelas, or other online places have good affordable suits and packs for your flies and supplies. If you plan on doing it more than once, i'd invest in a good rod and string, don't really want to put a lot of money into something you're only gonna use once or twice. hit me up on steam, and we can share fish stories! (I've been fly fishing for most of my life).
best thing is read reviews, and online tends to be cheaper, but if you go to one of the sports places, they are usually super knowledgeable, and will get you exactly what you want!
happy fishin'

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I added you Steveo. I'm still aggressively looking for good fishing spots in my area so it might take a while before there are actually any "stories".
Follow me on snapchat at stevechen for the aforementioned pics of kayaking and shit level fishing.
