I am moving to NorCal from SoCal for work. I will be working around Woodland but I can't seem to find a decent place to stay there. Does anyone know some nice areas of Sacramento where rent won't break the bank and isn't in the ghetto? The further west the better. I need a place to move within two weeks from now. Pls help

rocklin or roseville are like 20 mins out of sac and have some non-ghetto areas that are cheap. also elk grove to an extent, and you might find some cheap spots in folsom. in sac is nice but expensive

Elk Grove is a great place, it is about 20-25 min to downtown sac.

Davis is very close and also largely a student town. You can see that as a positive or negative. I'll check with my friends from Sacramento (I used to live nearby) and see what the town's like nowadays.

Elk grove is like an hour in the wrong direction from woodland though. Your best bets are probably Davis or Woodland itself. If you want to do something closer to downtown sac there are parts of Natomas that aren't awful. The suburbs of Sacramento go East towards Roseville and South towards Elk Grove. There really isn't anything between Natomas and Woodland.

Thanks for the input guys. Davis is a place I might consider, being a college town doesn't really bother me since I just graduated so being around people my age in a new city is something good.

How is traffic up in Sac?

If you're from SoCal you'll be fine. It's not great, but even the Bay Area is nothing compared to Southern California. Davis to Sacramento is like 10-15 minutes, maybe 30 minutes during rush hour. At least in the time I spent there.

Edit: Apparently most folks in their mid-20s live around 14th and P by Southside Park, 20th and H, or East Sac/Land Park area.
