Any Adobe Premiere Users? Frequent Hanging

Hey, not sure how many people here use Premiere, but I'll test my luck. Not only do I use Premiere, I'm a sad editor and I use CS4 (rip).
Anyway, as of late, I've been having increasing trouble actually getting anything done as the program has begun to hang and freeze altogether more and more often. This is often triggered by actions as simple as previewing footage, rendered and not rendered.
Unfortunately, I do not have an ideal setup by any means, so I don't have separate drives for caching and storing footage. However, this has not been a major issue in the past.
I tried clearing caches recently, and I'm in the process of attempting to repair the software. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I wish I had a build that would properly support Premiere. It makes me cry.

From what I've read CS4 will not support more than 4GB of RAM as it is 32-bit software, but there's always allocating more RAM if enough isn't allocated. However, this hasn't been an issue historically for me. This started becoming a problem over the past couple months, notably after I finished the GXL video.

We'll see. I'd like to pick up CC when school demands it, which is not currently, maybe in a couple years, sadly. I've uninstalled Premiere completely, and will reinstall it in a bit. I removed all preferences as well.
