Today out of nowhere my internet connection dropped midgame and I thought it was just my ISP having some downtime again. But when I looked at my phone and I was still connected to wifi, so I connected my pc to wifi (normally using a powerline adapter) and it worked again. I already tried most things I could find on google about this problem, but nothing seemed to work, now I am kinda desperate because gaming on wifi is impossible because of the spikes..
These are my ipconfig /all outputs
- On Ethernet
- On Wifi
I am using Windows 8.1
Hope any of you guys might know how to fix this

Ask all your neighbors if they also use powerlan. If they do and they're on the same powerline, this will fuck up your internet. This happened to me and fucked my internet for a month or so and no one knew what it was until I found out.

I'm 99.9% sure my neighbours aren't on the same powergrid as my house

How old are the powerline adapters?
Got a second pc at hand for testing?

Bought them around two months ago when I moved in here (and my house was build in 2008, so the powergrid is very new), and nope /:

Which powerline adapters exactly?
Does ethernet directly still work? Are the adapters dead (there should be some indicator leds)?
Static IP or DHCP?

DHCP
Don't have acces to ethernet where I live, hence the powerline adapters
They also seem to work fine, LEDs behaving same as always

You probably should have told us that. It's kind of important. You should definitely check your settings, especially IPv4.

So DHCP is enabled but ipconfig /all says it's disabled? Congrats, you broke windows.

Anyway to fix it without a reinstall? :(

Check ipconfig again
-DNS to automatic
-test if it works
-disable ethernet and enable it again
-test again
-reinstall the drivers

The weird thing is, my other ethernet port does the exact same thing with the default settings, Should I maybe remove all the drivers from my mobo and install again?

I am happy to say I solved it by using a recovery from yesterday before it went offline (already tried this a couple of times) but this time I immidiately shut down my pc after it and also my router for a couple of minutes, when I started both up again it worked, thanks for the help tho setsul!

I had this exact issue about a 2 weeks ago and I couldn't find a solution to my problem. Eventually I found that just disconnecting the powerline adapters for a few minutes from both ethernet ports and mains sockets fixed the issue, and this solution worked any times this has happened since. Good to see you solved it though.
