Recently my monitor died and I've been using a throw away one(this one has scan lines in it) and I've been looking to find a 16:9 144hz monitor that won't break my bank. I'd be willing to spend on max $450, but I have no clue where to start looking and no references to help me could you guys help me?
You have to play around with the colors a bit, but honestly, it's really good imo.

rumors of it having terrible input lag.. i haven't used a different 120/144hz monitor to realize the input lag difference but i mean i got it as a gift (basically) by techdude so i wont be replacing it until it actually breaks.
Also there are times that only half the screen shows sometimes with the monitor very annoying it has happened 3 times now that i've owned it and it's been a full year i believe if not a little bit more.

as a general rule, low-cost 144hz monitors are always gonna come out with some really shit colors, and you have to fix that on your own. idk how bad it is for ASUS monitors, but honestly even my benq was pretty miserable to start with, very washed out everywhere
If you're able to wait a bit you could always see if any of the 165hz monitors go on sale for under 450 during Black Friday (doubt it since they are still pretty new but you never know). Also you could take a look at the 120hz monitor thread on tftv.

unless you live in a permanently cold climate and/or you prefer playing games in a sauna, I do not recommend CRT monitors

Rest assured that the VG248QE is far worse than the XL2411Z.
XL2420T, same panel as XL2411Z.

Don't want G-Sync (never saw a use for it) and I don't care about washed out colors as I can fix that on my own. As long as the monitor has either VGA or HDMI I'm fine with it

1. You can't fix the colours.
2. You will not get 144Hz via HDMI or VGA.
