144hz screen tear/jitter on Chrome?

Ayo.

I just got my 144hz monitor (been using it on 60hz for the past two days lol) and I'm loving it, but I seem to have an odd problem. Whenever I load a big page in Chrome, upon loading, the screen jitters down for a fraction of a second. It only happens in Chrome (and I can't get a video to show it so I can't describe it that well, sorry). It doesn't happen in 60hz at all. Any ideas? Kinda stumped.

cpu: i5-3570k
gpu: radeon 6770
6gb ram
system temps are fine

Are you by chance holding down the pg up and pg down button at the same time? Lol i know this seems odd, but It can sometimes do that. Also, does the WHOLE screen like taskbar, and everything? or does it just scroll up and down really fast?

My pgup and pgdown buttons are way on the other side of the keyboard. I don't think I've ever used them.

The whole screen, taskbar and all. I tried making the Chrome window smaller to see if it was just a chrome problem but the whole screen jumped even then.

Check that the cable is in all the way.

It's definitely secure. It's not happening randomly, it seems to only happen on pageload.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your video drivers and see if that does anything for you.
It doesn't sound like the issue is hardware sided.

I am on beta drivers, although my drivers have proven to be super stubborn in the past. idk if there's a new version of amd drivers out there

It's not for the purpose of upgrading them but rather resetting whatever could (potentially) be wrong with them.

Check the overdrive (trace free) option on your monitor. I have screen tearing issues with my Asus VG248QE if I set it to 100.

Still happening after reinstalling drivers. Will check out the overdrive option.

Edit: my overdrive is only set to 60

Seems to be fine at 120hz. My old-ish GPU probably can't handle (or wasn't built for) 144hz.

I was having similar graphical issues in chrome after a chrome update. The only solution I found was to run the Beta Chrome, and not had a problem since.

I was having just overall slow screen drawing in chrome. For example if I opened a new window then flicked it to the top of my screen in order to maximize it it would take like a full second to draw the graphical change.

I also had problems with Netflix and anything else running Microsoft silverlight. If I ran dual monitors, one at 144Hz and the 2nd at 60Hz, it would cause my main monitor to digitally scramble and I'd see a bunch of white and black squares all over the screen. Since I run lightboost when I game, my solution was to use a Lightboost 120Hz profile, and I think a no lightboost 121Hz profile.

Sounds like the same problem I have, no matter what I try (changing cables, drivers, reconnecting everything, reseating video card...) my monitor always stutters on 144 Hz but works perfectly on 120 Hz. Just need to upgrade soon I guess.
