Huntsman, and all of these other "annoying but rare" weapons are rare because they're a bad choice to run.
Pomson is the best choice to run, but it's rare because a specific set of circumstances are required for it to do anything useful. You don't sacrifice anything to run it.

Pomson really isn't the best choice to run though. Firstly it needs to be the correct time for engineer. Secondly you're trading off your shotgun which does do pretty decent damage. Sure sometimes you'll go down with your sentry but I mean, you can also survive but not have time to go back to spawn so the 90dmg meatshots are the only thing left for you.
I think the pomson was allowed for highlander in which you must have a fuckton of opportunities to get it to work but I asked and it really wasn't seen outside of a couple "attempts". So I just don't see it as being a threat. Just another lame thing to play against, like pyro, that you just need to slightly adjust how you're gonna play those couple of seconds.
Also if people are going in before you go in, the projectile will hit them and not you. It doesn't penetrate anymore so it is really not that annoying. Just pomson stigma is still attached to it.

Whether or not it's the correct time for engi is not relevant. We're only talking about situations where engi is being run - defending last vs an uber.
At a top level, engineer should never be going down with his sentry and using shotgun is just a last-ditch effort if you're the only one alive and they're about to cap.
In Highlander engineer is enforced all the time, so of course pomson isn't going to be used. They want something much more versatile that can do damage. Engineer in 6s is only used on last points, where you know an uber is gonna come in, and you're defending vs it. The argument that it "isn't as effective in HL" is completely not understanding the issue.

Alright, but then onto my point of the engineer actually getting himself into the position for the projectile to hit the medic and not anybody else? If he manages to do that and create the hero play that your team plays off I honestly think he deserves it.
I'm not sure, I just think the weapon is highly situational which surely makes it not stupidly overpowered that it needs to keep the ban (if there was no bug). I can see it working on the more open last points where you can get in and not have to use but the engineer will surely have to be quite deep into the enemy combo to find the angle, so just check for the "pomson rush" or whatever it would be if it turned out to be a common thing.

You don't understand the problem.
NOT running a shotgun and instead running pomson gives 0 downside. In the classic scenario where engie is run pomson is a 110% upgrade.
Imagine the scenario on say... Process last (same situations will apply to most lasts). You've built your gun by left spawn and and standing next to it like a good Texan. You hear the combo is walking far left lobby. With shotgun the most you can do is look at them and hit them for 3 damage. With pomson you can not only hit for more damage, you have a chance to maybe take away some of the medics uber, allowing your inevitable sniper to maybe kill the med before he gets uber again.
Out of the 1000 times I've run/played against an engie on last I've probably seen like 3 shotgun kills. Why would you run shotgun when you have a chance to completely change the course of the round?

It's not OP, I agree. But it adds nothing and is a terrible concept. There is no situational downside to the weapon, and it never benefits the game positively. It's not a huge play to hit a pomson, it's just random spam.

Sideshow appears to have taken up my argument. I agree with it's not OP, it's just not fun to realize you were just denied a push and possibly getting absolutely crushed by an Engineer getting lucky.

DamnEasyI played pomson in pickup for 30 min, i got 25 kills including 1 medic DROP, and it ONLY HAD ONE GOOD MOMENT when i got the medic uber down from 100% to 90% and we killed the medic, but that was because i was pushing like a retard, when actually holding and spamming it it takes 10 min to get across the map and it has 0 effect. ITS SHIT trashdoes the pomson still have that glitch where, if you shoot through a teammate, everyone but you and the teammate can't see the laser projectile
e: for context, I learned of that through this:The Pomson 6000 ban is due to its invisible particles glitch (when the beams are fired through a friendly players, the beam becomes invisible to all but those two players).
When i shot my teammate i could not see it, idk if it actually went through them though.
Also please dont ban me tf2pickup :(
Is it possible to drop a medic using the pomson?

i think people should also remember the unlimited ammo, the minimum damage of 42 and the uber/cloak removal thing makes this the weapon of choice at last (the only place you will use engie).
As people said before, you trade the 3-10 damage shotgun shots for unlimited 42+ damage spam with a possibility of removing uber, making the scout better than soldier at spamming from last.
